Rain
Feeder Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't you think it's sad?
Happiness is dead, our rain has gone
Building up the walls
Just to see them fall away

Which way should I go?
Further up as I float
Trying to understand
Keep my feet on the ground
And live again
I'm coming down, I see myself
On the sand, I walk again
Through this land of rain

I think we know
My conscience grows
Within myself two different roads
So far from home, again

Which way should I go?
Further up as I float
Trying to understand
Keep my feet on the ground
And live again
I'm coming down, I see myself
On the sand, I walk again
Through this land of rain

Somewhere there's a place that I can be
Somewhere there is air that I can breathe in
Someday pretty soon they're gonna believe
Believe in me, believe in me

Here comes the ground, I see it now
I'm coming down, all by myself
On the sand, I walk again
Through this land of rain

Of rain, of rain, of rain

Overall Meaning

Feeder’s song β€œRain” is a beautifully crafted ballad that explores themes of sadness, the loss of happiness, and the journey towards self-awareness. The lyrics open with the line β€œDon't you think it's sad? Happiness is dead, our rain has gone”. Through this line, the song explores the idea that happiness can be elusive and that, at times, it can feel like it’s gone forever. This metaphorical loss of β€œrain” is then further explored throughout the song.

The verse β€œBuilding up the walls, Just to see them fall away” suggests a feeling of futility when it comes to holding onto things that bring happiness. The song seems to suggest that we can try to hold onto happiness by building walls around ourselves, but eventually those walls will fall away, leaving us vulnerable and exposed to the elements of sadness and despair.

The chorus repeats the question, β€œWhich way should I go?” suggesting the confusion and uncertainty that often accompanies the journey towards self-discovery. The verse β€œWithin myself two different roads, So far from home, again” further emphasizes this feeling of uncertainty and the idea that finding one’s way back to happiness can feel like a journey into the unknown.

Overall, β€œRain” is a poetic and introspective song that explores the complexities of human emotion and the journey towards finding inner peace.

Feederinourhearts
