After the split, bassist Adam Lewis and drummer Damon DeLaPaz devoted themselves to their now defunct side project Sing the Body Electric, while vocalist/guitarist Will Salazar and guitarist Chris Lewis formed the band Denver Harbor.
In September 2005, Fenix TX announced their reunion. They released a live album, Purple Reign in Blood, and supported it with tours across the United States and Japan.

Guilt and remorse come with me
They're dying to play
Take me down with you
This feels so far from perfect
I'll try and pretend this is my heart
Be careful it's so hard to mend
I'm down for whatever if you're down
She'll never know
Take me take me tell me everything that I want to know
Then I'll let you go down
With you I can't go on pretending
You don't know her name
We've gone too far to turn back now
I might as well stay if you're down for whatever
I'm down for the same
Take me take me take me anywhere you want to go
She'll never know
Take me take me tell me everything that I want to know
Lemme go I think I'll wait too long
want to know
Let me go
Just take me down with you
Take me take me take me down with you
Take me take me take me down with you
Take me take me take me down with you
I play guitar and I'm better than you
My name is James James
He comes from Houston and so do we too
His name is James James
Woah woah woah
He's got something to say James James
The lyrics to Fenix TX's song El Borracho are open to interpretation, but one possible interpretation is that the singer is in a tumultuous relationship with someone and is struggling with guilt and remorse. The lyrics suggest that he is willing to do whatever it takes to be with this person, even if it means sharing them with pain. The lines "Take me down with you" and "I'm down for whatever if you're down for the same" suggest a willingness to engage in destructive behavior.
The lines "Be careful it's so hard to mend" and "We've gone too far to turn back now" suggest that the singer knows that what he is doing is not sustainable and is likely to end badly. Despite this knowledge, he seems unable to resist the temptation to continue down this path, perhaps because he feels that he has already invested too much or because he is addicted to the feeling of being with this person. Ultimately, the song ends on a note of resignation, with the singer acknowledging that he has waited too long to extricate himself from this mess.
