Eden
Ferguson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I land here everytime with nothing in the end.

I chose the safest desire that ended on a whim.

I'd like to go back in time, and I'd decide again.

But, I know that its too late; she's gone to bolder men.
You were the one that was best for me and I didn't mean to set you free.

But, I can't help hoping you'll realize every little dream that we could be.

'Cause I know it'd be easier anyway.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Ferguson's song Eden speak to the regret and nostalgia one can feel after making a rash decision and losing someone they care about deeply. The singer says they always end up back in the same place, with nothing to show for their actions. They had chosen a desire that seemed safe at the time, but it ended abruptly. Now, the singer longs to go back in time and make a different decision, but they know it's too late. The person they care about has moved on and found someone else.

The singer then directly addresses the person they lost, admitting that they were the best choice for them and that they never meant to let them go. They express a hope that the other person will recognize all the potential they had together and reunite with them. Despite the difficulties and uncertainties involved, the singer believes it would be easier to be with this person than to continue living with the regret of not having them in their life.

Overall, Eden is a poignant song that speaks to the human desire for second chances and the pain of missed opportunities. The singer's sincere regret and longing are clearly conveyed in the lyrics, making it a relatable and moving piece of music.

The Torah blesses us and keeps us save from the wiles of haSatan, the accuser. The Father, creator of all things is a legalist. His son, Yeshua our Messiah, the only doorway to salvation is the waking, talking , Torah.

Our hope is in His resurrection and our salvation through faith in him that our faith bears the fruit of obedience to the Father. We are to surrender our will to His will.

The purpose of life is to make decisions that form our character, our behavior, into the kind of spirit that Yahweh will want to Iive with forever.

A Father's unconditional love does not reward the habitual disobedience and disrespect of his children. Rather, He corrects and tests our faithfulness to the covenAnt (marriage contract), that we may be found doing righteousness.

Remember the Sabbath and keep it set apart (holy).

The definition I presented isn't mine but scriptural. But his definition isn't.

@Saved Christian well, he doesn't know your personal definition of the words, but I don't think there's any question that Dr. Ferguson does know the actual definition of them. How do you expect me to tell him to contact you to learn your interpretation? And why should he want to?

@Janice dJ
I think he needs to understand what legalism and antinomianism means. Tell him to contact me.

Janice dJ

@Saved Christian I encourage you to get a copy of his book and read it. This will help give you more accurate definitions of the words. God bless.

Legalism is trusting in the knowledge of good and evil to earn God's favor. Antinomianism is trusting in Christ whose moral perfection earns God's favor for us.

I know whereof he speaks. My mother held forth, "If you do this, I will love you"... but she truly never did. As a result, I never loved her.. never learned to love her. I most steadfastly refuse to condemn her: my obligation remains to honor her... even though she died. But neither will I tolerate or support a LIE, directly or indirectly.... and so I have a serious obligation to disabuse those who believed her lies... by informing them of the truth... even decades later.
