Praise To The Lord The Almighty
Fernando Ortega Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, Now to His temple draw near; Draw me in glad adoration!

Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth, shelter is under his wings yes so gently sustaineth. Hast thou not seen How all the longings have been Granted in what He ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, who hath fearfully, wondrously, made thee! Health hath vouchsafed and, when heedlessly falling, hath stayed thee. What need or grief Ever hath failed of relief? Wings of His mercy did shade thee.

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee, Who from the heavens the streams of His mercy doth send thee. Ponder anew What the Almighty can do, Who with His love doth befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord! Oh, let all that is in me adore Him! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him! Let the Amen Sound from His people again; Gladly for aye we adore Him.

Praise to the Lord
The almighty, the king of creation
Oh my soul, praise him
For he is thy health and salvation
All you who hear
Now to his temple draw near
Join in in glad adoration
Praise to the Lord
Who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth
Shelters thee under his wings
Yes so gently sustaineth
Hast thou not seen
How all thy longings have been
Granted in what he ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord
Who doth prosper thy work and defend thee
Surely his goodness and mercy
He'll daily attend thee
Ponder anew, what the almighty can do
If with his love he'll befriend thee
Praise to the Lord
Oh let all that is in me adore him
All that hath life and breath
Come now with praises before him
Let the amen sound from his people again
Gladly for aye we adore him

Let the “Amen!” sound from his people again
Gladly for aye, we adore Him!

Another great verse, not in this particular recording. Or even most hymnals. But if I can remember it right:

Praise to the Lord who, when darkness and sin are abounding
Who, when iniquities triumph, all virtue confounding
Sheddeth HIS light
Chaseth the horrors of night
Saints with HIS mercies surrounding

(If I remember it right :)

Be blessed

This is one of my favorite hymns. It has brought me comfort many times. Pastor Joachim Neander, [1650-1680], of the German Reformed Church regrettably lived a short life, but it was a meaningful one. This hymn is one of 60 he composed. He loved to visit a valley in his native Germany where surrounded by nature he found inspiration. Thal is German for valley, so when the valley was named in his honor the discovery of what Darwinists think was an ancient “man” was called the Neanderthal man. Too bad because as this hymn shows Pastor Neander was a creationist and a firm believer in providence.

I think of that Dawkins atheist hater of God and I tremble thinking of the punishment one will receive for leading a generation to perdition. God is so patient and merciful, these atheists don't realize anything good that has come to them is because of the Lord. To be separated from the source of life forever is the most terrifying condition. The whole world has gotten exponentially worse in the last 20 years! I'm only 46 and I couldn't imagine the last days would come in my life time.
