08 Snakes Of Grey
Flowing Tears Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We are the serpents that crawl through the night
We are the veins of this town
We are the valleys in metropolitan light and we drown

We are tunnels that swallow the noise
We are the lungs of this town
We are the trains for the sleepwalking on their way home
And we walk in the open fire
We step back for the 9 to 5 parade
And we swallow the autumn light again

Show me the way when you're pulling me under
Show me the sun though the dark of my road
Bury me deep in the path that I wander
To blind us they stand - together alone

We are the dome for processions at dawn
We wear the darkest of crowns
We are the pulse of the tide and the ghosts underground

We are the voice of the unending grey
We sing the saddest of songs
Follow our signs and we guide you to where you belong

And we walk in the open fire
We're the ground for the 9 to 5 parade
And we swallow the autumn light again

Show me the way when we're pulling me under
Show me the sun though the dark of my road

Bury me deep in the path that I wander
To blind us they stand - together alone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Snakes of Grey" by Flowing Tears depict the bleakness of modern, urban life. The serpents in the first line of the song may symbolize the residents of the town, who are crawling and struggling to survive through the night. The veins of the town could be interpreted as the roads, which are the lifeblood of the city. The valleys in metropolitan light emphasize the loneliness and isolation that individuals may feel in a crowded city.

The song goes on to describe how the residents of the city are trains for the sleepwalking individuals who are making their way home from their daily 9 to 5 jobs. Throughout the song, there is a sense of accepting the grey and sad reality of life. The chorus focuses on seeking guidance and light in the darkness of the urban environment. The overall theme of the song is about finding hope and purpose, even within the monotony of daily life.

He was perfect for it. All the rest of the OTT actors were pretty diabolical, let's be honest. Even the good actors like Hopkins and Oldman.

And I don't mean diabolical in a good way.....

I would like to know what Francis Ford Coppola was smoking when he made this crock of shit.

I love what Oldman says: “Enter freely of your own will and leave some of the happiness you bring.” It’s so inviting, yet sinister...

Steve Kaczynski

The music chord when he crosses the threshold suggests that is when Dracula has power over Harker, when he accepts the invite to enter.

A line taken straight from Stoker's novel XD

Lucy Mould I meant what I meant. I know Dracula is the name of Gary Oldman’s character in this movie. I was complementing the actor’s performance, not the character.

Anonymous FlyingDragon

Eh, I don't think it is. Maybe Dracula means.....that he's sad and wants to be happy so he's asking for people to leave some happiness with him. That's just what I think.

For me too !
This is the version in which Dracula can and may show human feelings ‼️
Keanu Reeves and Wyona Ryder as well as the female playwomen make the cast a feast for the eyes of the senses ! 🗣 I consider the film adaptation with Frank Langella to be one of the best !Where to get 🧛 - in Dracula ❗️
Frank Langella was more handsome and more charismatic and taller to play the role, of a lover ❗️
