Fokofpolisiekar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Ons kan halfies gaan
Langs Tafelberg af ry
Terwyl die son sak
Doen dit nou
En ons kan kyk wat gebeur
Sal in elk geval
'n Doodloop aand
Van 'n doodloop maand
Van 'n baie onbesonderse jaar
My duiwels sal selfsugtig
By my waak
'n Vliegtuig verlaat Kaapstad Internasionaal
Los dit vir later
'n Plan B
Jy weet hoe dit werk
Enige oomblik kan een van ons vrek
Wat jy begin het moet klaar
Iemand word altyd in die steek gelaat
Dit raak erger voor dit gesond kan raak
Dis jy
Jy het hulle hier ingelaat
My duiwels sal nou snoesig
By my slaap
Ek le oop oe
Doodstil en wag
Vir 'n kans om te ontsnap
Om werklik gered te word
Moet jy eers op die rand staan
Ek is nie 'n welsyn saak nie
Dit mag dalk so lyk
Hoe konstruktief is negatiwiteit
Wat het ek bereik?
My toekoms ruineer
Om my hedendaag te preserveer
The lyrics to Fokofpolisiekar's song Bel Vir Middelvinger touch on themes of rebellion, uncertainty, and the fear of being stuck in a monotonous life. The singer seems to be contemplating a spontaneous adventure, driving down Table Mountain at sunset, and spending their money on this risky adventure. They acknowledge that life can be a dead end, but they don't want to be held back by fear or inaction.
The lyrics then turn to anxiety and paranoia, as the singer recognizes their own self-centered tendencies and acknowledges that they've let their demons take over. They feel trapped and are waiting for an opportunity to escape, but they realize that they've already made choices that may have led them down a detrimental path. They question the utility of negativity and question whether their present actions are preserving their present at the expense of their future.
