By the time he was 12 (1952), Avalon began making appearances on U.S. television for his trumpet prowess, and as a teenager, played with Bobby Rydell in a band known as Rocco and the Saints. In 1959, his songs "Venus" and "Why?" both went to number one on Billboard magazine's Hot 100. Indeed, "Why" was the last #1 hit of the 1950s.
During the 1960s, Avalon became known for his roles in the Beach Party film genre. Later, he became the U.S. national television spokesperson for Sonic Drive-In.
My Heart

You've fallen for somebody new
It isn't too easy believing
You'd leave after all we've been through
It's breaking my heart to remember
The dreams we depended upon
Your leaving is slow dying ember
I wish you joy though tear drops burn
But if some day you should care to return
Please hurry back and we'll make a new start
Til then you're breaking my heart
I wish you joy though tear drops burn
But if some day you should care to return
Please hurry back and we'll make a new start dear
Til then you're breaking my heart
The lyrics of Frankie Avalon's song You're My Girl are about heartbreak and the pain that comes with being left by someone you love. The singer is expressing his feelings of hurt and disappointment because his love interest has fallen for someone new and is leaving him. The song captures the raw emotion that comes with a heartbreak and how difficult it is to move on after being so close to a person.
The lyrics of the song suggest that the singer and his love interest had a deep connection and had been through a lot together. They had shared dreams and aspirations, and had become dependent on each other. However, now that the love interest has decided to leave, it feels like a slow dying ember, a painful reminder of what once was. The singer acknowledges that he will miss the love interest when they're gone, but wishes them happiness despite the tears he is shedding.
At the same time, the singer leaves the door open for his love interest to come back. He suggests that if they ever care to return, they can make a new start and try again. Until then, however, the singer is heartbroken and struggling to move on from the pain of being left behind.
Overall, You're My Girl is a poignant and emotional song about love, heartbreak, and the challenges of moving on.

Just ask your heart who dreams about you
Just ask your heart who's faithful and true
Someone who cares and won't make you blue
Just ask your heart who loves only you
Then you will find your true love will be
Someone who cares for you and wants to make you happy
Then when your heart say he loves only you
And when it says he won't make you blue
Then ask your heart if your love is true
Just ask his heart loves only you
Then you will find your true love will be
Someone who cares for you and wants to make you happy
Then when your heart say he loves only you
And when it says he won't make you blue
Then ask your heart if your love is true
Just ask his heart loves only you
Just ask his heart loves only you

Frankie Avalon was handsome, talented, and clean cut. Girls must have swooned over him back in the 50's. I know I would have if I was alive back then.

I have a new appreciation for these songs of so long ago. It was a time when life seemed simpler...less complex & challenging. Funny how our values change with age...it seems
inevitable!
