The band went through three different lead singers, Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), Jason Gleason(Affinity, and later ActionReaction) and finally Jon Bunch (Sense Field). The final line-up:
Jonathan Bunch - Vocals (Sense Field)
Josh Colbert - Guitar
Chad Neptune - Bass Guitar (Strongarm)
Steve Kleisath - Drums (Strongarm, Shai Hulud, En Masse)
Derick Cordoba - Guitar.
FSF's releases in order are:
From the 27th State Split EP (1999)
The Moon Is Down (2001)
Further Seems Forever / Twothirtyeight Split 7" (2002)
How to Start a Fire (2003)
Hide Nothing (2004)
Hope This Finds You Well (2006, retrospective)
Final Curtain (2007, 567 records)
The band also appeared on numerous compilation discs such as Emo Diaries Volume 4, Punk Goes Pop, A Santa Cause: Its a Punk Rock Christmas, and Rock Music: A Tribute to Weezer.
In late 2005, FSF went on a long hiatus. And in January 2006, the band posted a message on their website announcing that their shows in early 2006 through the United States and Canada would be their last as a band. During its existence, FSF gave more than a thousand performances. The individual band members proceeded to new jobs. There would be no new album project, but a compilation entitled Hope This Finds You Well was released by Tooth & Nail Records in April 2006. The band also indicated there would be a DVD release of videos and live performance scenes entitled "The Final Curtain". As of late 2010, it was announced the reunion of the band alongside the original singer, Chris Carrabba. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.
The name "Further Seems Forever" reflects the band's feelings, being constantly away from family and loved ones while on tour.
The Band Reunited and has planned a tour for 2011
A System of Symmetry
Further Seems Forever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A crack in a perfect line
A cure for the common good
You did what you knew you should
I watched as you pulled away
To be what you had to say
Torn from the ceiling down
The once and the future queen
A series of settlings
The hope and the hopeless cause
The moment the morning comes
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A pen sticking in my ribs
Just isn't enough to live
The ark of the waning moon
There's nothing more we can do
Walk away dead and gone
No sense when the timing's wrong
For be on the worry soon
She says what I've always known
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
A system of symmetry
The lyrics in Further Seems Forever's song "A System of Symmetry" seem to describe someone who has made a difficult decision to go against the norm, and as a result, is feeling lost and alone. The opening lines, "Lost in the pilgrim sky, A crack in a perfect line" suggest a feeling of displacement or divergence from what is considered normal or traditional. The following lines, "A cure for the common good, You did what you knew you should" suggest that this person made a choice that may have been unpopular or difficult, but ultimately necessary for their personal growth and development.
The chorus repeats the phrase "A system of symmetry" several times, perhaps indicating a desire for balance or order in their life, but also acknowledging that life is rarely so neat and tidy. The lines "A pen sticking in my ribs, Just isn't enough to live, The ark of the waning moon, There's nothing more we can do" suggest feelings of frustration and resignation, and a sense that they have done all they can to pursue their chosen path, but may feel stuck or unable to move forward.
The final lines of the song, "For be on the worry soon, She says what I've always known" suggest perhaps a moment of clarity or support from someone in the singer's life, indicating that they are not alone in their struggles.

I feel like they could have made this so much bigger than they did. Great job with building up the tension in the song but you've also got to release it at some point.
