Lotta Stuff
Geggy Tah Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a lotta stuff in my gut that I can't seem to get rid of
I wish the whole universe would absorb cause it's so much bigger
Unless I take the time
All this stuff will be mine for the rest of my stuffed life
All mine, All mine
All mine, All mine
There's a lotta stuff in my room that I can't seem to put away
I wish the flowers of woe, stop, it' s not cool to look pretty
Unless I take the time
All this stuff will be mine for the rest of my stuffed life
All mine, All mine
All mine, All mine
All mine, All mine
All mine, All mine
All mine, All mine
All mine, All mine. . .
There's a lotta stuff in my gut that I can' t seem to get rid of
I wish the whole universe would absorb cause it's so much bigger
Unless I take the time
All this stuff will be mine for the rest of my stuffed life
Taxi, taxidermy
Taxi, taxidermy me

Taxi, taxidermy me
Taxi, taxidermy me

Overall Meaning

The song "Lotta Stuff" by Geggy Tah explores the idea of the overwhelming amount of stuff in our lives, both physical and emotional. The lyrics express the desire to shed this weight, to let go of the clutter that is holding the singer captive. The "lotta stuff in my gut" represents emotional baggage, while the "lotta stuff in my room" represents physical possessions. The singer acknowledges that without taking the time to address this excess and let it go, it will continue to be a burden for the rest of their life. The repeated refrain of "all mine" emphasizes the personal responsibility for this weight, and the insistence on personal agency in the process of letting it go.

The use of the phrase "taxi, taxidermy" is a bit more obscure and open to interpretation. It could be seen as a desire to be preserved or immortalized, either through a literal process of taxidermy, or through the metaphorical preservation of memories or legacy. Alternatively, the word "taxi" could represent a means of escape, of physically removing oneself from the clutter and weight of their possessions and emotional baggage. Overall, the song suggests a deep desire for freedom from the overwhelming amount of stuff in our lives, and the recognition that we are the only ones who can take responsibility for this and make it happen.

Thanks for posting! Greg Kurstin (guitar/keyboard) went on to do many more awesome things. Like producing for Lily Allen, and He's 1/2 of The Bird and The Bee. Geggy Tah forever!

Correct me if I'm wrong but this was way way way ahead of the stuff out at that time. It took 10 years for the rest to catch up with Geggy Tah...

No, if anything, they were years behind many other bands. Even well known bands like No Doubt and They Might Be Giants were a decade earlier than these guys.
