@Frances Tweedie he doesn't even sound like a counter- tenor. I actually wonder if he's on hormones. I've heard many counter tenors, and never one that sounded so much like a mezzo.

Oh wow! This piece sounds much better up to speed, as these performers so aptly demonstrate. Bravo Jonathan Cohen and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra! Listening to a typical performance after this one makes the others sound obnoxiously plodding. Also, John Holiday's beautiful voice has completely altered my opinion of countertenor singing. Most I've heard sound too falsetto thin for my tastes, but Holiday's voice is a pleasure and a delight to listen to.
