The cast is second behind The Beatles for most chart appearances by a group act in the Billboard Hot 100's history, and holds the record of sixth overall among all artists, with sixty-nine appearances. The cast has sold over thirty six million and over eleven million albums worldwide. The series' cover versions have also had a positive effect on the original recording artists, with sales of Rihanna's "Take a Bow" increasing by 189 percent after the song was covered in the Glee episode "Showmance".
The series features covers of numerous songs sung on-screen by the characters. Musical segments typically take the form of performances, as opposed to the characters singing spontaneously, as the intention is for the series to remain reality-based. Murphy is responsible for selecting all of the songs used, and strives to maintain a balance between show tunes and chart hits, as: "I want there to be something for everybody in every episode. That's a tricky mix, but that's very important — the balancing of that." Song choices are integral to script development, with Murphy explaining: "Each episode has a theme at its core. After I write the script, I will choose songs that help to move the story along."
Glee is choreographed by Zach Woodlee, and features five to eight production numbers per episode. Once music rights are cleared, songs are arranged and pre-recorded by the cast. Woodlee constructs the accompanying dance moves, which are then taught to the cast and filmed. Numbers can take several weeks to prepare, depending on complexity. Each episode costs at least $3 million to produce, and can take up to 10 days to film as a result of the elaborate choreography.

One love, one heart
Let's get together and feel alright
Artie (Puck)
Hear the children cryin' (One love)
Hear the children cryin' (One heart)
Both
Sayin' give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
Wo wo-wo wo-wo
Artie
Let them all pass all their dirty remarks
There is one question I'd really love to ask
Puck
One heart
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?
Artie (Puck)
Believe me
One love (What about the one heart?)
One heart (What about love)
Let's get together and feel alright
As it was in the beginnin' (One love)
So shall it be in the end, alright (One heart)
Both
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
Let's get together and feel alright
Puck (Artie)
One more thing...
Let's get together to fight this Holy Armageddyon (One love)
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One song)
Artie
Have pity on those whose chances grows thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation
Both
Sayin'...
One love (What about the one heart?)
One heart (What about the...)
Let's get together and feel all right
I'm pleadin' to mankind (One love)
What about the one heart? (One heart)
(Ohhh) Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
(Yeah) Let's get together and feel alright
The Glee Cast's song One Love is a cover of the famous Bob Marley classic. The song carries a message of unity, love, and hope. Puck and Artie's rendition of the song emphasizes the importance of coming together, despite differences and challenges that may arise. It's a reminder that through one love, we can conquer all obstacles and experience true joy and contentment.
The first verse begins with the phrase "One love, one heart, let's get together and feel alright." This line symbolizes the idea of unity and emphasizes the importance of coming together, despite various differences we may have. In the second verse, the children's cries highlight the importance of recognizing the need for change and addressing issues that affect people of all ages. The third verse talks about the consequences of one's actions, reminding us that everyone deserves a second chance to turn their lives around.
The chorus emphasizes the importance of praising and thanking the Lord and reiterates the importance of coming together. The last verse emphasizes the need for people to unite to fight against the Holy Armageddon and console those who are going through difficult times.
