Goldenhorse's debut album Riverhead was released in October 2002. Over the following 18 months, various singles from the album started to be played on the radio and the band played live throughout New Zealand. Sales of the record climbed slowly then steadily and in August 2004 the album reached no.1 on the NZ national charts.
"Out of the Moon" was released in 2005. "Reporter" was released in 2007.
The band has not said it has split; the time-out is described as a hiatus with Morrell releasing a solo album in 2010 and King debuting Grand Rapids in 2011.

Baby's Been Bad
Goldenhorse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I'm blue, I'm blue
Thinkin' I'm in love again
With you oh boy
Baby's been bad
And I'm blue, I'm blue
Thinkin' I'm in love again
Running back to catch the bus
Stopping time to keep the sun still shining
I sat there all dewy-eyed
While you've been working out your crime
O-ooh-o-oooh
Baby's been bad
And I'm blue, I'm blue
Thinkin' I'm in love again
With you oh boy
Baby's been bad
And I'm blue, I'm blue
Thinkin' I'm in love again
With you oh boy
Stepping out, I'm sound at last
Hide the booty in your tight back pocket
We've been out too late last night
Now I don't care about our crime
O-ooh-o-oooh
My baby's been bad
My baby's been bad
My baby's been bad
My baby's been bad
My baby's been bad
My baby's been bad
The lyrics of Goldenhorse's song Baby's Been Bad convey a sense of longing and frustration by its protagonist towards a lover who has done something wrong. The repeated refrain of "Baby's been bad" indicates that the lover has committed some kind of transgression, but the singer is still unable to resist their charm and is thinking about loving them again. The line "Stopping time to keep the sun still shining" could be interpreted as a reference to trying to hold onto good memories despite the current bad situation.
The second verse presents a more carefree attitude on the part of the singer towards the lover's crime. They have gone out together, stayed out late and are apparently having fun, despite the fact that the lover has done something bad. The refrain is repeated twice more, emphasizing the singer's conflicted feelings towards the situation - on the one hand feeling hurt and betrayed, but also drawn back into the relationship by their love for the "bad" baby.
Overall, the lyrics of Baby's Been Bad are cryptic and open to personal interpretation, but ultimately convey a sense of the complexity of love and relationships, where emotions can be contradictory and hard to wholly understand.
