1. Gratitude is a rock band from San Francisco, California. They were formed in 2003 by former onelinedrawing and Far alum Jonah Matranga and guitarist Mark Weinberg (originally of the band Crumb). Other members included guitarist Jeremy Tappero and bassist Bob Lindsey. Drummer David Jarnstrom joined the band before the release of their self-titled debut album (session musicians fulfilled the drum role during the recording of the album). Atlantic Records released Gratitude on March 8, 2005. The tracks Drive Away and This Is The Part, were released as singles and received significant radio play both in the US and the UK. Gratitude's first tour for the album was a North American tour supporting Jimmy Eat World (whom the band has often been compared to), and they were also on the bill for the 2005 Warped Tour.
The band faced many difficulties after their album's release - the commercial response was somewhat poor, and Weinberg left the band in June for personal reasons, thus forcing Gratitude to continue touring as a four-piece. Many show cancellations throughout the second half of 2005 and rumours of the band being dropped by Atlantic put the future of the band at stake. Eventually Gratitude released a statement on November 25 claiming that they had in fact decided to split after playing one final show at the Ascot Room in Minneapolis two days earlier.
The members of Gratitude have now gone onto to various things, with frontman Jonah Matranga continuing with his solo work and the recently-reformed band Far. Members, Jeremy Tappero & David Jarnstrom have returned to their other band, Minneapolis rockers, Attention:.
2. Gratitude is also the name of a up and coming Hardcore/Progressive band from Kingston-Upon-Hull in the UK.

The Greatest Wonder
Gratitude Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You know I will do anything for you
So whether for light or for ashes
All of us burn for something
The greatest risk, the greatest wonder
Some of the time we are stolen
Most of us live our lives as thieves
How could you know that I just know that I won't leave
Always waiting for someone to be sure
Always praying that we'll be ready for
The greatest wish, the going under
The greatest risk, the greatest wonder
You cannot give somebody joy
But you can find it by trying
You can't save someone from death
But you can love them while they're dying
Love them while they're dying
Always waiting for someone to be sure
Always praying that we'll be ready for
Yeah I'm ready, I'm ready
So give me something
The greatest wish the going under
The greatest risk the greatest wonder
The greatest risk the greatest wonder
The song "The Greatest Wonder" by Gratitude is a beautiful exploration of the human condition, our desires, and our fears. The opening verse speaks of the lengths one would go to for someone they care about, even if it means burning everything down, whether it be for light or ashes. This speaks to the passion and intensity that love can bring out in us, and the destructive force it can be if not kept in check. The line "all of us burn for something" can be interpreted as the underlying motivation behind our actions, be it love, desire, or ambition.
The chorus is a proclamation of vulnerability and the uncertainty of life. We are just a collection of individuals, most of whom are simply trying to get by in life, but every so often we are stolen by something or someone, and that can change everything. The question of trust is a major theme, as many of us have been hurt in the past and fear being hurt again, but the possibility of finding someone who we can place our trust in is the greatest risk, and also the greatest wonder.
The second verse speaks to the human desire for certainty and the fear of the unknown. We are always waiting for someone to be sure, to give us the answers we seek, but often times those answers never come. This is where faith and hope come into play, as we pray we'll be ready for whatever comes our way. The lines "you cannot give somebody joy, but you can find it by trying, you can't save someone from death, but you can love them while they're dying" are incredibly powerful, as they speak to the idea that while we cannot control everything, we can make an impact in the lives of others by our actions and the love we give.
Overall, "The Greatest Wonder" is a beautiful song that speaks to the human experience, the uncertainties we face, and the power of love and vulnerability.
