Orgone Accumulator
Hawkwind Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've got an orgone accumulator
It makes me feel greater
I'll see you sometime later
When I'm through with my accumulator
It's no social integrator
It's a one man isolator
It's a back brain stimulator
It's a cerebral vibrator
Those energy stimulators

Just turn your eyeballs into craters
But an orgone accumulator
Is a superman creator
It's no social integrator
It's a one man isolator
It's a back brain stimulator
It's a cerebral vibrator
I've got an orgone accumulator
And it makes me feel grater

I'll see you sometime later
When I'm through with my accumulator

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hawkwind's song "Orgone Accumulator" are a tribute to the Orgone accumulator, a device created by the Austrian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich in the 1930s. The device is believed to harness and stimulate the flow of Orgone energy, a hypothetical form of energy that Reich believed to be present in all living things. The song describes the effects of the accumulator, which include increased energy, improved mood, and heightened sexual stimulation. The lyrics also suggest that the device promotes individualism and introspection, rather than social integration.

The song begins with the line "I've got an orgone accumulator, it makes me feel greater". This line sets the tone for the rest of the song, which celebrates the benefits of the accumulator. It is unclear whether the singer is singing about a physical accumulator or a metaphorical one, as the lyrics are intentionally vague. However, the remaining lyrics describe the positive effects of the device on the mind and body.

The chorus of the song repeats the lines "I've got an orgone accumulator, and it makes me feel greater, I'll see you sometime later when I'm through with my accumulator". This suggests that the singer is taking a break from socializing to use the accumulator, indicating that the device is used for individual rather than social purposes. Overall, the song is a celebration of the Orgone accumulator and its supposed benefits.

Used to listen to Hawkwind tapes while building my Norton Commando upstairs in my bedroom as a youth. Still riding bikes and listening to Hawkwind @64.

@davesherry5384

Good man! What's the commando look like?

@marco-58

@Dave Sherry The 850 Commando was built to look like a red framed American Flat Tracker, inspired by a feature in Bike magazine. Engine with balanced polished crank, 4S race cam, gas flowed head by Alf Hagon, Omega 10.25: pistons. It absolutely flew. Light weight even went as far as doing away with the battery.(Twat to start). Don't have it anymore. Now a Moto Guzzi Le Mans2, a Kawasaki ZZR 600, and a 1973 Triumph Bonnie 750. Cheers.
