At 81, we lived in the best of times in the music world. We had the last of the 40's Big Band era and slipped into the 50's Rock and Roll. The 60's and then the 70's great music. I really don't know much about the 80-90's. This Mancini collection brings back so many wonderful memories of the Way We Were.
My husband of 54 years is gone now, but he would have loved listening to this music as he sat reading one of his books, so relaxing. Thank you for sharing this collection with us.

My father would be the first one up in the mornings, because we had one bathroom and there were six children getting ready for school. Dad had a '60's record player and he would play Henry Mancini music while he shaved and got ready for work.
I hear this music and it takes me back to the day I was five years old and watched dad shave and listen to Mancini weave his magic. Makes me tear up to listen! Still miss you Dad!

This is the kind of music my grandmas and Mom listened to when I was a girl. I loved it! There was a station in Paterson, NJ, WPAT that was always on in my grandmas' homes and during the day in my home. The Beatles etc. were fun, but this is what stays in my mind when it comes to a relaxing time at home, and now that I am retired, that's every day! I saw Mancini come into the lobby and being young I ran up and said 'Pink Panther"! It was early morning and he was in full tuxedo but with his tie undone, hair askew. I turned 86 this June but there is nothing like easy listening which is what this is. All I have now are memories and this music brings a lot of them back especilly all the romance I was lucky enough to experience. Trips to Tehran and the surprise at hearing Bob Azzam and his orchestra playing romantic melodies to dance to under the stars in the skies above Cairo and finding him again in Geneva but my favourite will always be AS TIME GOES BY with its memories of CASABLANCA with its play it again Sam.... I'm 59 now. Growing up in the 70s I never really cared for this kind of music but heard it played by my parents on the stereo (yes, stereo--quadrosonic😊) on vinyl. My parents are both gone now and everytime I hear Mancini, Percy Faith. Or Mantovani, I dream and long for my loving parents ❤️. I so love this kind of music now. I met Henry Mancini in 1966 at the BloomingtonMN football stadium after on of his concerts. As a shameless 15 year old I asked him to sign my program while he was discussing with his manager where to eat! I treasure it along with my Alfred Hitchcock picture autograph. Two of my boyhood heroes.

No one will ever come close to the artistic magic of Henry Mancini. I am 62 years old and I grew up to his music playing on a record player in my grandmother's Livingroom and my mother's kitchen. The wonderful fondness... the memories... the great love and joy of life and living with the sounds of his delicate strands always playing somewhere in the background or foreground... all through the ups and downs of my life. It's funny how you can love someone you've never met. But I love the heart and soul of this incredibly gifted man. God gave him a precious gift that he shared with the world. And the world is a better place because of it. Thank you. I needed this today. How precious it is to hear once again.

I will be 70 next year. I grew up listening to easy music. Even at 14, I use to fall asleep with my little transistor radio under my pillow. When I woke up, the batteries were dead. I really went through batteries but did not care. The music will relax you. To this day, I live by easy music. It will take us away for a while.

I'm 67 and played music like Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Savoy Brown and so on, but Mancini and others like him made me gravitate to this kind of REAL music. I learned to play by ear, so I was always taking music apart and the strings always memorized me especially the Cello. This has such an emotional effect on me, and sometimes even find tears running down my face. God bless the incredible writers of this genre.

I know exactly. I own Henry Manicini's greatest hits album in vinyl and on CD. I love "Mr. Lucky" the best. I too am 67 and Mancini's music is always poignant, romantic, beautiful and I feel nostalgia for the past. I'm a child of the 1960's when everything was different. This is real music. The real deal. I also like Nelson Riddle. I remember 77 Sunset Strip and all those wonderful tv shows. I love Henry Mancini.

There is nothing better than Andy Williams singing Henry Mancini. That combination has and continues to bring me to tears as it has for the last 50 years. I fell in love with this music at 14 yrs. old and it has been a big part of my life ever since.

Thank you...wonderful to remember romance.When I was young I fell in love with a very handsome young singer of the American standards. He taught me so much about the greats in music. Mr. Mancini was one of them. We did not end up getting married even though he wanted to because he thought it would not work because he was on the road all the time. He passed a few years ago, but just a few months before he died he called me .It had been over 40 years and yet it felt like yesterday. We never really forgot each other and when I hear this music,I know he was the love of my life.

@@kazire4591 I know..it was sad in many ways, but he just did not think marriage would work because his father had deeply hurt his mother when he was young . His father was a well known entertainer and not faithful ,and his parents were divorced. He did not want to ever hurt me in the same way. I married a very good man, raised a family, and have been married over 42 years. He did not marry until he was almost 54, and it lasted less than a year.I think he regretted loosing our relationship. We were so young but we did have a special connection that never changed.I am grateful we reconnected before he passed.

@@mr.djcooncoon8196 Yes, sir...I agree. When I learned of his passing, I was quite sad. While I hate to hear of anyone passing, Gustavo felt like a longtime friend, though I never met him. His music brought many of us together and I've seen many very kind and supportive comments between his listeners...something rarely seen on other YouTube channels and videos. I hope Gustavo's channel will remain as it is, so his legacy of great music will continue to inspire and unite. I suspect he never knew how much of a positive difference he and his YouTube channel made in the world.

Back in the 80s, while I was attending a conference in Phoenix, Mr. Mancini was one evening’s entertainment. At the end of his performance, naturally there was a big round of applause, but everyone stayed seated (we were all expecting an encore, of course). Mr. Mancini picked up a sheet of music and said, “I have one more piece I’d like to do for you — it’s called, ‘In case of Sitting Ovation, play this!’ “. Great sense of humor.

in the 1970s OKC had one of the first female mayors in the country. She was in attendance at a Mancini concert - he dedicated "The Stripper" to her. You're so right - awesome sense of humor

I started crying at the first song. I am now 73 but I always loved listening to this music with my grandmother and great grandmother. I still have some of my gram's old LP's. I know there is a Henry Mancini album in that collection. I am happy and somewhat sad to have found this music today. But thank you for the lovely memories.

My grandparents used to listen to him. I remember being a kid out on their front walkway in the summer ...just playing. This in the background. They also had friends that had a blind son that played piano. He came to their house and played on their piano...then one night he got to play on an organ/piano at this pizza place called pappas pizza. He did baby elephant walk and nailed it. I was only 6-7 years old. Life was good. So many say we have to thank our parents for those times...I have to say I thank God because no matter how good you had it, all people are flawed . I'm greatful I had those good times. The music had a big impact on me . I wound up starting guitar at 15 , still play today.

My parents loved easy listening music after lunch and dinner. I think I first heard Mancini music when I was in college as a movie theme, (Moment to Moment). Thank you Craig for sharing.

When I was a kid, my parents listened to KRUZ, a radio station out of Santa Barbara pretty much every day. They played Henry Mancini, 101 Strings, and various other instrumental music. Some called it "Elevator Music". I call it the good stuff. Classic, relaxing, and just great to come home to. The good stuff. It never gets "old". 😊

GMB is with RCA. My grandfather recorded two albums with RCA in Chicago, about one hundred years ago. There is still fine Music and I cab pretend I hear all of it. Life goes on. I will be 70 in May and Love hearing this Wonderful Music again! My husband passed in 1985 at age 34 of a Kidney Transplant Rejection and I was engaged in 1990 to a Wonderful Man he gave me a beautiful diamond & a few short weeks later he dropped dead of a Massive Heart Attack unexpectedly. But this Beautiful Music brings back precious memories and remembering many blessings we shared!

So sorry to hear your sad story. When I met the love of my life again in 1994 after first meeting her in 1980, every time I traveled to see her, I brought her a Mancini CD. We have lived apart for almost all of the 30 years since but we still both listen to the Mancini music as a constant reminder of our romance. 💘

Saw one of his last concerts at Star Lake Amphitheater near his childhood hometown of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He also wrote rock music. Watch the video of The Pet Shop Boys, " It's A Sin ". Not only did he write it but also portrayed the harsh priest in the video. He appeared in other rock music videos also. He was a jester and very kind never losing his small town humility and charm. His wife was a big band singer and absolutely gorgeous.

Admittedly there aren't many but one you may like to listen to is by an Australian Duo called, of a things, "Savage Garden" it's title "I knew I Loved You before I met You", the lyrics are beautiful, it's part of the soundtrack of the film "You've Got Mail" there was also a version on YouTube with clips of Mac and Stellas love story from "CSI New York", which sadly I can't find any more. I hope you like it.🙂🌹
