Dingousopp The only issue with IV was massive overhaul of mechanics - some of them really, really good, some of them really, really bad. But when compared with all the shit that went on in non-3DO games, there are NO issues whatsoever with IV.

Plus it had EPIC campaigns and music that never before or after was so damn good in entire series. Seriously, if the game ever had a chance to be properly done (it was rushed thanks to bankrupcy), it could end up with better legacy than III.

Adam Kalla Glad to know at least SOME people find fighting heroes a great thing instead of calculating how hard they can break the game by all-hero army. FINALLY heroes were something more than just a way of providing flat bonus to stats of units and wearing items for more flat bonuses.

Hell, items overhaul, to make them more important than just +m to N was great too.

I never truly understood why poeple are angry with all those improvements. Sure, there are many issues with vanilla AI and certain things are outright bugged, but come on! As a game created as swan song of a bankrupt company rushing it for sales, this is pure epicness.

+pateuvasiliu Well, Heroes III & V are the best games for me. But Heroes IV has the BEST MUSIC in the whole series. 97% of Heroes IV looks great, but the 3% that kills the whole game is the siege combat. Why?
1. There is no catapult. (Except it's an own neutral unit)
2. The attackers can't shoot over the walls, but the defenders can. WTF?
3. It's really hard to understand how long the creatures can go.

Гаулода полумертвого из четверки почему-то все запоминают. Вообще все герои интересные, но он, Элвин и Тауни Балфорт - как книгу читаешь. Четверка вообще одна из самых настольных и продуманных по сюжету и сложности геймплея стратежек. Жалко что ЦА нужен графончик и изи то плей- хард то маста. Так как дофига в четверке не очевидных вещей и слишком пожирающая всё РПГ составляющая когда пак героев после раскачки превращался в пак оф дум.

HOMM series is why I have become a game composer myself. 4 was the best imo, not as a game but the music and the atmosphere was on another level... Wish the AI was a bit better :) This is my childhood here that's still alive hopefully somewhere in my music!

@@inferionemperor5219 Actually, while samples and general theme was taken from AMG library "Complete Celt", basically just 2 samples "Bayside Waltz "and "Across the sea" mixed up, still we should appreciate, that Paul Romero while creating sea theme kept updated his sample library, taped "sea" in search engine in his sound mixing program and has good enough taste for music to choose and mix up them correctly. Still, creators of samples and bitmakers made marvelous job as well.

I hated his campaign. We had 2 shitty pirates at the beginning, 13 points in attack, and we had to take a large map with more than 6 castles.... with level 12 maximum (difficult to become a good heroes).

I spent at least 20 hours before winning the first mission

You lust for the uncommon and wish there was more to your life than there already is, however you know that it will never change, and your life will always remain the same dull and monotonuos life that was promised to everyone that was born in this era/period of time. Kazmistrz1993 Play it now, when it's all fan-patched and the dust is long settled down. The campaigns are pure epic. Remember the Shadow of Death campaign from 3rd game? Pretty much entire 4th game got this quality of story. It's the rare case when you are playing strategy game for the story.

Heroes music made me wonder if I'd listen to it if it weren't associated with the Heroes game. You know, if this music didn't have a nostalgic value and wasn't associated in my mind with a video game that I like. Sure it's awesome, but there are lots of similar type of music out there that may be even better, but is missing out on listeners just because it wasn't included in a video game.

Heroes II, III, IV and perhaps V were all masterpieces in their own right. While many claim III to be the best, and perhaps rightfully so, IV certainly held it's own in a lineup of classics. And the soundtrack might just be the best of any heroes game!
