That's a lie
Hey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So here I am in the middle way
Trying to learn to use the words
For me there is only the trying
You said I'm repeating what I've said before
I said to my soul - be still and wait
I said to my mind - be strong and wait
I said to my body - be fresh and wait
You said I'm repeating what I've said before
That's a lie

But I'm waiting for love

Overall Meaning

In the song "That's a Lie" by Hey, the singer reflects on their struggle to express themselves effectively through language. They find themselves in a state of limbo, feeling as though they are in the "middle way" and attempting to improve their ability to convey what they are feeling. However, despite their efforts, they feel that they are only able to try, rather than achieve perfection in their articulation.

The singer receives criticism from someone else, who accuses them of simply repeating themselves. However, the singer insists that this is not the case, and that they are still in the process of refining their communication skills. They encourage themselves to remain steadfast and patient, telling their soul to "be still and wait" and their mind to "be strong and wait". They close by acknowledging their desire for love, indicating that their struggle to express themselves may be related to their pursuit of romantic connection.

The song's lyrics are open to interpretation, but they may speak to the universal experience of struggling to communicate effectively with others. It can be frustrating to feel that one is not being understood, or that one's words are not coming out as intended. Additionally, the song may also touch on the idea that perfect communication is an ideal that may never be fully met, and that our ability to connect with others will always be a work in progress.

@ELEKTROSKANSEN

Uwielbiam TO!!!
