Hot Water Music Lyrics

We're still alive he said we met 11 years before or more and I remember way back when he taught me my first bar chord we used to tear it up reckless moonpies for misfits with no cares you got that right I said we're still here scarred but here but then again we were invincible then we're still here just not like then without a care full of hate when we smashed for laughs and to prove to all fuckers we would quit school stuck ink and called the working man and the men who worked fools to hit bottom and to crash we though the last sight of us was the last sign of us we thought the last sight of us was the last sign of us we thought wrong because face to face here we stand strong but this time we stand for good

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Hot Water Music's song Moonpies for Misfits tell the story of two friends who have been in each other's lives for over a decade. The opening line, "We're still alive he said we met 11 years before or more," sets the tone for the song, celebrating the fact that despite all the reckless behavior they engaged in during their early years, they are still alive and standing strong. The singer remembers how the friend taught him his first bar chord on the guitar and how they used to "tear it up reckless." They were misfits with no cares, doing whatever they wanted without thinking of the consequences.

However, as time passed, the reckless behavior took a toll on them both, leaving them scarred and changed. The lyric "but then again we were invincible then we're still here just not like then without a care full of hate when we smashed for laughs" refers to their mindset during those early years, feeling invincible, without a care in the world, and fueled by hate. They would do things just to prove a point, like quitting school and getting tattoos, and they would look down on working-class men, seeing them as fools. Despite their destructive ways, they thought they were indestructible and that nothing could stop them.

But as time passed, they hit rock bottom, crashing and burning in spectacular fashion. It seemed like the last sight of them would be the last sign of them. However, they thought wrong. The two friends are face-to-face again, standing strong, but with a purpose this time. They stand for good, having learned from their mistakes and recognizing the value of their friendship and their lives.

We're still alive
He said we met 11 years before or more
And i remember way back
When he taught me my first bar chord
We used to tear it up reckless
Moonpies for misfits with no cares
You got that right
I said we're still here scarred but here
But then again we were invincible
Then we're still here just not like then without a care
Full of hate when we smashed for laughs
And to prove to all fuckers we would quit school
Stuck ink and called the working man
And the men who worked fools to hit bottom and to crash
We thought the last sight of us was the last sign of us
We thought the last sight of us was the last sign of us
We thought wrong because face to face here we stand strong
But this time we stand for good

this song is so real, the story chuck tells is so relatable to myself and most of my friends...growing up in the pre-internet days; where you spent afternoons and evenings after school breaking things, skateboarding, and causing ruckus around the neighborhood. quitting college early, playing in bands and playing out, joining the working force and realizing you and your friends made it through growing up with all these experiences that other's might not have had.

thank you HWM.

Hot water music and Leatherface was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I bought this record while I was still trying to digest the radness of the show. Cheers.
