Hubert Von Goisern Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
der kommt in das kühle grab
i mecht aber krank nit sein
kellnerin schenk ein
oans, zwoa, drei, vier, hob di stad
dass di nit obidraht
obi übers habernfeld
bäurin macht a grantigs gsicht
bald da dirn a haferl bricht
macht an so an teufelslärm
zwengs den altn scherm
oans, zwei, drei, vier ...
hinter meiner stadltür
sitzt an altre musketier
spüt auf seiner bassgeign auf
hat koa soatn drauf
oans, zwei, drei, vier ...
The lyrics to Hubert von Goisern's "Stadltür" are somewhat cryptic and can be interpreted in different ways, but the overall mood of the song is playful and irreverent. The first stanza appears to be a drinking song, with the singer expressing his desire for a cold beer and urging the waitress to serve him. However, there's an ominous undertone in the lines "wer das braune bier nit mag/der kommt in das kühle grab" ("whoever doesn't like brown beer/will end up in a cold grave"), suggesting that indulging too much in alcohol can lead to an early death. This theme is common in Austrian folk music, which often celebrates the joys and dangers of drinking.
