They gave their first concert at "Le Rose bonbon", a café in Paris on 29 September 1981. This brief performance on stage earned them their first contract with a record company.
They recorded their first single in November 1981. It included two songs, Dizzidence Politik and Françoise. Their most known song is "l'aventurier" (french for "adventurer") which has been covered by Nada Surf. As of 2006 they have released 11 albums and have had several member line up changes through the years. They are very famous in french-speaking Europe and Canada. Indochine has worked with important people in music such as Brian Molko, David Bowie, Robert Smith and Melissa Auf Der Maur.

Paradize... Mao Boy <3 J'ai découvert Indochine sur cet album au festival de Dour en 2002 quand j'avais 12 ans. J''ai été tout de suite embarqué et fasciné par l'univers d'Indochine et de Nico. J'adorais la pochette de l'album Paradize, avec cette jeune femme enceinte. Aujourd'hui j'ai 28 ans et cette jeune femme enceinte c'est devenu moi, j'attends mon premier bébé. Je souris en repensant à toutes ces heures incalculables passées à écouter Indo dans ma chambre d'ado et aujourd'hui encore de toujours les porter dans mon coeur. Alors pouvoir chanter Mao Boy à mon fils qui grandit dans mon ventre.... La vie est juste magique, surtout avec Indo.

Indochine a marqué mon adolescence, comme quoi même ma génération à pu savourer ce superbe groupe ! cette chanson comme d'autres sont pour moi inoubliables et resteront à jamais lié à la plus belle époque de ma vie !
