With its crisp guitars and start-stop tempos, "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" became a radio favorite worldwide, and Get Born sold over three million copies as a result. Jet also received seven ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) nominations, six of which were awarded to the band. European dates with Oasis followed in summer 2005, and the sophomore effort Shine On arrived in fall 2006. The band maintained a steady touring pace and contributed a song to the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack. Following a short break, Jet reconvened in 2008 to begin work on a third album, which arrived one year later as Shaka Rock. They toured as support for Green Day and Powderfinger, but went on hiatus in 2010 and were fully disbanded in 2012. Walk

Down the moonlit mile
We don't have to walk
Down your company line
We got the wherewithal
To walk without you all
We got the wherewithal
Every time we walk
Down the moonlit mile
We don't have to walk
Down your company line
We got the wherewithal
To walk without you all
We got the wherewithal
To walk without you all
You know you know it's all about money
She said yes and I said
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yeah
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yeah
Every time you talk
You waste my precious time
I don't hear the call
I just hear the wine
We got the wherewithal
To walk without you all
We got the wherewithal
To walk without you all
She said she said it's all about money
I said no way she said
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yeah
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yeah
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yeah
Well I ain't too young to buy me a gun
Gonna walk downtown and have me some fun
I ain't too young to buy me a gun
Gonna walk downtown and have me some fun
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yeah
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah come on come on come on
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yeah
Yah yah yah yah yah yah yah yaaaaah
The lyrics to Jet’s “Walk” continue the band’s trend of rebellious and nonconformist themes, with the idea of walking down a “moonlit mile” representing the path less taken, away from the “company line” that others may expect them to follow. The repetition of the line “we got the wherewithal to walk without you all” reinforces the idea of independence and self-sufficiency. The lyrics also touch on the concept of money, with one person saying “it’s all about money” and the other disagreeing, leading to the repeated use of “yah yah yah” as a dismissive response.
The second half of the song takes a darker turn, with the singer stating they aren’t too young to buy a gun and planning to go downtown and have some fun. This shift in tone could represent a desire to take control of one’s life, or a reaction to feeling trapped or powerless.
Overall, the lyrics of “Walk” encourage individuality and self-determination, while also exploring themes of rebellion and conflict.
