Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm taking my freedom
Pulling it off the shelf
Putting it on my chain
Wear it around my neck
I'm taking my freedom
Wherever I choose to go
It will take me far
I'm livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden, golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden, golden
I'm taking my own freedom
Putting it in my song
Singing loud and strong
Grooving all day long
I'm taking my freedom
Putting it in my stroll
I'll be high-steppin' y'all
Letting the joy unfold
I'm livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden, golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden, golden
I'm holding on to my freedom
Can't take it from me
I was born into it
It comes naturally
I'm strumming my own freedom
Playing the God in me
Representing his glory
Hope he's proud of me
I'm livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
Livin' my life like it's golden
(Hope he's proud of me)

Jill Scott's song "Golden" is an anthem for freedom and positive living. The song encourages the listener to live life to the fullest by taking control of their own freedom and making the most of it. The opening lines set the tone for the message of the song, as the artist declares that she is taking her freedom off the shelf and putting it on her chain, symbolizing that she is taking control of her own destiny. She goes on to say that she will take her freedom with her wherever she chooses to go and that it will take her far.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Livin' my life like it's golden" several times, emphasizing the importance of living life to the fullest and enjoying every moment. The artist then takes ownership of her freedom, declaring that she will put it in her song and play the "God in me." She believes that she was born with freedom, and it comes natural to her, so she is holding onto it with both hands. She concludes by saying that she hopes God is proud of her and that she is living her life according to his glory.
In summary, "Golden" is a powerful message of empowerment and inspiration. It encourages listeners to take control of their own lives and to live them to the fullest.
