Born and raised in Delaware, Jimmie’s “dream” began early on as a boy in his church choir. He immediately fell in love with music and couldn’t get enough. He taught himself to play the guitar, drums, and piano while continuing to develop his chops as a singer. During his years of high school, Jimmie became extremely active in the musical theater program starring in presentations of “Footloose,” “Grease,” and “Peter Pan” and receiving rave reviews. This small taste of success was just enough to push the aspiring entertainer to a new level of excellence.
After high school and dedicated to his musical endeavors more than ever, Jimmie put together a demo showcasing his talents as a singer and songwriter He began taking trips to New York City, banging on doors, and passing around his music. To help offset some of these costs, he would enter talent contests with cash prizes and usually win. One such contest led him to the stage of the BET show, “106 and Park” and got the attention of a Nashville based producer.
Jimmie made his way to Tennessee and work began immediately. Within two days of his arrival, Jimmie and producer Kevin Wayne had written and recorded a song that solidified Jimmie’s sound and musical direction. Within a few months, major labels, managers, and agents were showing interest in the new artist, and then came a comet heading for the world.
“Comet,” Jimmie Allen’s first radio single impacting October ’09, is an exhilarating blend of Jimmie’s diverse musical influences from rock to pop to gospel and r n b. The choruses soar with huge distorted guitars while the verses pull you close to experience every intimate expression of Jimmie’s performance announcing his immense infatuation with a beautiful girl. As the drums pound, the bass pulses, and your head bounces. Handling A&R duties for the project is legendary EMIl executive Kim Stevens responsible for bands like Matchbox 20, Collective Soul, and Saving Abel. Mark Endert, mixing engineering for Madonna, Maroon 5, and The Fray, mixed the single for radio. It seems the stars are lining up for Mr. Allen. So watch the sky, there’s a comet on the way!

Jimmie Allen Lyrics

I'm pretty sure you're lovin' every minute
If there's a golden pond full of fish
I bet you already caught everything in it
I bet you're making everybody laugh with your jokes
I know you're holding nothing but the best kinda hope
Shining a light up there with a big ol' smile, yeah
Oh, you know mama's still cooking
Them down home grits
I promise I'm working
With this guitar 'bout as hard as I can
I met a girl, bought a house
Put a nice little payment, down home
Is still there where my heart is
This down home kid is just how you left him
I still hate that you're gone, I wish you were here
But I hope I'm making you proud
'Cause I know you're up there looking down home
There ain't a day down here that goes by
That I don't climb up in my F-150
On a backroad bumping Charley Pride
Yeah, every song keeps you right here with me
I got a daughter now I really wish you'd have met
Yeah, she's walking now, but I know you see every step
I wear the number fifteen every chance I get
So when you're looking through the clouds, daddy
You can bet
That down home
Oh, you know mama's still cooking
Them down home grits
I promise I'm working
With this guitar 'bout as hard as I can
I met a girl, bought a house
Put a nice little payment, down home
Is still there where my heart is
This down home kid is just how you left him
I still hate that you're gone, I wish you were here
But I hope I'm making you proud
'Cause I know you're up there looking down home
Daddy, don't you worry (down home)
Oh no, 'cause everything
Everything (down home), everything's good
Down home (down home), yeah
Ooh yeah
Down home
Oh, you know mama's still cooking
Them down home grits
I promise I'm working
With this guitar 'bout as hard as I can
I met a girl, bought a house
Put a nice little payment, down home
Is still there where my heart is (oh)
This down home kid is just how you left him (oh, yeah)
I still hate that you're gone, I wish you were here
But I hope I'm making you proud (yeah)
'Cause I know you're up there looking down home
Down home, down home, yeah
We still miss you, we still miss you
We miss you down home
The lyrics of Jimmie Allen's song "Down Home" is a tribute to his late father. The song highlights the singer's belief that his father has gone to heaven, where he is happy and content, enjoying every moment. Allen feels that his father is fishing in the golden pond, where he has already caught everything. He believes that his father is still making people laugh with his jokes and shining a light from above with a big ol' smile.
The song highlights Allen's memories of home, where his mother still cooks what he calls "down home grits." He expresses his hope that his father is proud of him and his accomplishments, such as his love interest, purchasing a house, and working hard with his guitar. Allen mentions his daughter, who is now walking, and wishes that his father could have been there to see it. He concludes the song by admitting how much he misses his father but is firm in the belief that his father is looking down on him from heaven.

I just lost my daddy last month and it’s been rough not having him here with us. I heard this song on my way home this morning and I got goosebumps, started to cry just a little but had a huge smile on my face at the same time. All the feels in this one! Definitely adding this song to my “I sure am missing my daddy” playlist! From the lyrics to the sound of your voice… you have such amazing talent!! Thank you, sir! ❤️❤️❤️
@shashashel5551

@celiamaldonado8597
I can’t believe he wasn’t nominated for an award at the Country Music Awards.That was shameful,this guy has a beautiful voice and sings amazing songs.I love him 🙏❤️
@kimberleylastra4627
He needs millions he'll get there
@cindygraham6997
I'm 50/50 with your opinion, although this is sang really well that shouldn't be enough for him to "jump the line" so to speak & win, when there's so much talent out there that's been out alot longer still pushing for recognition.
@celiamaldonado8597
Well,I listen to a lot of his music and they are all the same,AMAZING.The same with KEN BROWN.He’s also one that doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.His music is so relatable hands on with life,and yet he knows when to have fun with his lyrics 🙏❤️🥰😘
