O alforge sem um cequim
O chão não verdeia, ai de mim
Terra sem, terra sem trégua
O vento castiga o albornoz
O tempo seca o cantil
Dez dias no deserto a sós
E quando do céu o sol cai
Ladrões beduínos vêm
Roubar os caravanserais
Mercador, mercador, reza
E sonho alaúdes, miragens
Ouço cantar pra mim
Me acorda a voz de um muezzin
Lá no fim, lá no fim meca
Ao longe se vê Bassorá
Oásis de encantos mil
Rumei de camelo pra lá
Mais de cem, mais de cem légua
Mohammed no solo persa
De tempos imemoriais
Arômas, sensuais conversas
Haréns, donzelas sem iguais
Pedras de todas as cores
Ágatas, negros cristais
Damas de letais amores
Morro se me não amais
Califado de quimeras
Reino de meus ancestrais
E numa mesquita recordo
A sira de Maomé
Das guerras ao lastro da fé
Fé que não, fé que não cessa
No cairo um alfange degola
A nuca de um albatroz
O sangue que mancha o algoz
Some na, some na treva
Pirâmides guardam sepulcros
Múmias de faraós
Sarcófagos gemem a voz
Voz que não, voz que não quieta
Verberam numa alcova escura
Os versos de Omar Khayam
Ali fico até de manhã
Deito na, deito na relva
O preço só ganha a conversa
A manha de barganhar
Mercado onde o peso é falar
Quem disser, quem disser leva
Segura o turbante que vem
Rasante a riscar o ar
Um velho tapete a voar
Tá no ar, tá no ar, pega
The lyrics of João Bosco's song Califado De Quimeras paint a picture of a journey through the desert. The singer describes the harsh conditions of the desert, with dry and barren land, punishing winds, and a sun that beats down relentlessly. The singer also notes the danger of thieves and bandits, who would steal from those passing through the area. Despite the difficulties, the singer is entranced by the beauty and mystery of the desert, hearing music and seeing mirages. The lyrics continue to reference historical and cultural elements of the region, such as the city of Bassorá, Mohammed in Persia, and the pyramids of Egypt. The singer reflects on the past and the present, both the beauty and danger of the area, and ends with a call to hold onto something as a flying carpet approaches, adding a sense of magic and fantasy to the journey.
Overall, the lyrics of Califado De Quimeras offer a poetic and vivid depiction of a journey through the desert, combining references to history, culture, and fantasy.
