Jorge Alberto Negrete Moreno (November 30, 1911 – December 5, 1953) is considered one of the most popular Mexican singers and actors of all time. Negrete was born in Guanajuato where he was raised together with his brother and three sisters: David, Consuelo, Emilia and Teresa, and also lived in San Luis Potosí.
His career is often compared to that of Pedro Infante, the best known and most popular Mexican actor of the time. The public rivalry didn't carry over to their private lives, as they were close friends until Negrete's death.
He started his career singing on the radio in 1931 in Mexico City singing operatic parts. In 1936 he signed with NBC for a television program with Cuban and Mexican musicians.

Jorge Negrete, enseño la imagen del México alegre, romántico, y justiciero, donde los hombres Mexicanos portan el traje de Charro con gallardia y honor.
Con sus películas se convirtió en idolo del pueblo Mexicano, en la imagen viva de la Mexicanidad.
La mayoría de sus peliculas se realizaron teniendo como escenario a la provincia Mexicana en la época posterior a la Revolución Mexicana, en un ambiente campirano donde los hombres vestían de charro, montaban a caballo y cantaban serenatas a a las mujeres.
"Le apodaron: 'El Charro Cantor' porque era el único que portaba adecuadamente el Traje Nacional de México (Charro), sumado a ello, su voz privilegiada que le convirtio en la mejor voz que ha dado México al mundo.
Montaba a caballo de manera notable, por ello impulso el deporte nacional, la Charrería como arte, inaugurando lienzos charros a lo largo del pais, algo que hasta la fecha sigue siendo popular.
Fue Negrete el que internacionalizó el Tequila, esta bebida la uso en sus películas donde lo solia beber, inclusive hizo una cancion llamada tequila con limon.
Jorge Negrete hasta la fecha está asociado con México, la Mexicanidad, la Charrería y el Tequila.
