Prior to being a recording artist, he was a record store owner and a club DJ at a nightclub in Salt Lake City as a way to make ends meet for him and his wife. After he and his wife moved to San Francisco he landed a job as a A&R man at OM records, where in addition to reviewing demos for the label he also submitted his own material, which would pay off big time for him. In 2001 he went from behind the desk to behind the turntables and the recording studio as an artist in his own right. In 2003 Kaskade released his first album, "It's You It's Me", which was well received by critics.
It would be his follow up, "In The Moment" in 2004, that would put Kaskade on the map. The first single off the set "Steppin' Out" would become a major hit on the Dance Radio Airplay that year as well as a top 10 hit on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. His biggest breakthrough would come the week of May 14, 2005, when his follow up, "Everything," would go all the way to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
Stay This
Kaskade Lyrics

An idealistic woman
Say it
But say I can
Say this, and
Stay this distance
And I can be saying it
This way: soft
And say perhaps
I only seem so small between
Your thumb and the
Forefinger because
I am far away
Because I am far away
The song "Stay This" by Kaskade appears to be about distance, specifically the emotional distance between two people who are far apart. The lyrics suggest that the singer is an "idealistic woman" who desires to stay at a certain "distance" from someone else. This distance seems to be necessary for the singer to feel comfortable and safe in the relationship. However, the singer also wants to be assured that the other person will not be "aching" or experiencing any pain or discomfort as a result of this distance.
The singer also acknowledges that they may appear small and insignificant when viewed from afar, but they ask the other person to trust that their distance is necessary for the relationship to work. The use of the term "soft" suggests that the singer wants this conversation to be calm and gentle, rather than confrontational or argumentative.
Overall, the song seems to be about the complex dynamics of distance in relationships. While distance can be difficult and painful, sometimes it is necessary for both parties to feel safe and secure. The singer seems to be asking for understanding and acceptance from the other person, while also acknowledging their own needs and desires.
