Jenkins was born in Neath, Wales, where she and her sister Laura were raised by their parents Selwyn John (1924–1995) and Susan. She has twin half-sisters from her father's first marriage, neither of whom she has met.
Six out of seven of Jenkins's studio albums reached number one in the classical charts between 2004 and 2008, selling a total of more than 4 million copies. She is also the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical BRIT Awards: her second album, Second Nature, reached number 16 in the UK pop charts and was Album of the Year in the 2005 BRIT Awards.
On Sunday 25th November 2007, Katherine Jenkins' new album 'Rejoice' entered the 'Official UK Album Chart' at number 3. Katherine beat off stiff competition from the likes of Girls Aloud, Led Zeppelin, Spice Girls, Take That and Celine Dion.
Abigail's Song
Katherine Jenkins Lyrics

When you're alone, silence is all you'll be
Give me your hand and come to me
When you are here, music is all around
When you are near, music is all around
Open your eyes, don't make a sound
Let in the light of your bright shadow
Let in the shadow, let in the shadow
Let in the light of your bright shadow
The lyrics to Katherine Jenkins's song "Abigail's Song" speak to the sense of loneliness and isolation that can sometimes come with being alone. The opening lines, "When you're alone, silence is all you see / When you're alone, silence is all you'll be" paint a picture of a person who is truly isolated from the world around them. But then the song takes a turn with the lines, "Give me your hand and come to me / When you are here, music is all around." This suggests that there is a way out of that loneliness, that connection to the outside world can bring beauty and joy to an otherwise empty world.
The next lines, "Open your eyes, don't make a sound / Let in the shadow, let in the shadow / Let in the light of your bright shadow" continue this theme of connection and openness. The suggestion seems to be that we should embrace even the darker parts of ourselves, the parts we might be tempted to keep hidden away, because they can ultimately be a source of strength and beauty.
Overall, "Abigail's Song" is an uplifting and inspiring song about the power of connection and the importance of being open to all parts of ourselves.
