The Battle of Evermore
Led Zeppelin Lyrics

And then she turned to go
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom
And walked the night alone
Oh, dance in the dark of night
Sing to the morning light
The dark Lord rides in force tonight
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe
Rest not to lock your homes
Side by side, we wait the might
Of the darkest of them all, oh, oh
I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon
Waiting for the eastern glow
The apples of the valley hold the seeds of happiness
The ground is rich from tender care
Repay, do not forget, no, no
Dance in the dark of night
Sing to the morning light
The apples turn to brown and black
The tyrant's face is red
Oh, war is the common cry
Pick up your swords and fly
The sky is filled with good and bad
That mortals never know, oh
Oh, well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow
The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath
The drums will shake the castle wall
The Ringwraiths ride in black, ride on
Sing as you raise your bow (ride on)
Shoot straighter than before
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold
Oh, dance in the dark of night
Sing to the morning light
The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back
Bring it back
At last, the sun is shining
The clouds of blue roll by
With flames from the dragon of darkness
The sunlight blinds his eyes
Ah, ooh, oh, ooh, ah
Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back, bring it back
Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back, bring it back
Oh now, oh now, oh now, oh, oh now, oh now, oh now
Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back, bring it back
Oh now, oh now, oh now, oh, oh now, oh now, oh now
Bring it, bring it, bring it, bring it, bring it
Bring it, bring it, bring it, bring it
Bring it, bring it, bring it
The Battle of Evermore is a song that tells a vivid story with its lyrics. It begins with the Queen of Light taking her last bow before leaving, while the Prince of Peace faces the darkness and wanders through the night on his own. There is a sense of chaos and war brewing as the dark lord and tyrant gather their forces, while the people unite and wait side by side for the battle against the darkest of them all.
The story intensifies with each verse, as the drums of war shake the castle walls and the Ringwraiths ride in black. The song encourages the people to fight for what they believe in, no matter how difficult it may be. Eventually, the sun returns as the dragon of darkness is defeated, bringing balance back to the world.

The Battle of Evermore - Lyrics
Queen of Light took her bow
And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom
And walked the night alone.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morn-ing light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight
And time will tell us all.
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe,
Rest not to lock your homes.
Side by side we wait the might
Of the darkest of them all.
I hear the horses' thunder
Down in the valley below,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon,
Waiting for the eastern glow.
The apples of the valley hold
The seeds of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care,
Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morning light.
The apples turn to brown and black,
The tyrant's face is red.
Oh the war is common cry,
Pick up you swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad
That mortals never know.
Oh, well, the night is long
The beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise,
Waiting for the eastern glow.
The pain of war cannot exceed
The woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
The ringwraiths ride in black,
Ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow,
Shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold.
Oh dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the mornin' light.
The magic runes are writ in gold
To bring the balance back.
Bring it back.
At last the sun is shining,
The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness
The sunlight blinds his eyes.
Oh, bring it back, bring it back...

I Was obsessed by Led Zeppelin as a Teenager all the albums and had so many posters all over my room. then after I grew older just gave all of the posters away for free to a stranger. And quit listening and got into other bands. And basically now that I am in my 60's. I realize after all these years that what I was hearing in my headphones while lying in bed in my dark bedroom coming from my record player on my stereo system was most definitely some of the greatest music I would ever hear in my lifetime.
@TorMax9
Yes, sad nothing since has topped or come close to Zep, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Doors, CCR, etc.
@thetommoody
Yeah, it almost took a lifetime to realize what a genius band they were...I'm 63 years old and truly did not understand what I was listening to back then. I listen to this fourth album now and realize that I'm looking into the face of god!!!
