I feel like I am trapped in a maze
I just listen to the sound
My victim laying on the ground
I pushed the button now it's gone
My mind is skipping like a stone
I'm covered in all of your blood
What have I done
On the other side
I feel so alive
Everything comes clear
When I get out of here
So now I'm running from it all
We dropped the bomb and destroyed it all
The words you whisper in my ear
It makes it all so very clear
And when you push it through my veins
I find a chance to break away
Your body laying on the floor
I think I've done this all before
On the other side
I feel so alive
Everything comes clear
When I get out of here
So you think you'll bring me down
Locked me out of everything
I can't survive in this town
On the other side
I feel so alive
Everything comes clear
When I get out of here
The lyrics of Left Spine Down's song "On the Other Side" depict a character who is attempting to escape their current reality. They feel trapped in a maze and use violence to break free from it. The line "My mind is skipping like a stone" suggests that their thoughts are disjointed and frenzied, indicating a state of agitation. They are covered in blood, and feeling an intense sense of guilt and regret for what they have done.
The chorus provides a stark contrast to the rest of the song, with the declaration that "On the other side, I feel so alive / Everything comes clear when I get out of here". This line suggests that the character is searching for some kind of transcendent experience, or perhaps freedom from something that is holding them back. They feel alive and clear-headed, as though they have finally escaped the maze that previously trapped them.
Overall, the song seems to be about the desire to escape from one's current circumstances, even if it means using violent means. The character in the song is seeking a kind of release or transcendence that they cannot find within their current reality.
