What The Fuck Are We Saying?
Lenny Kravitz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Or is the fate of man at hands?
Will we live or shall we die?
How will we ever know if we never try?
The government's the devil's hands
It's a lie and it's a scam
They wind us up, put us down, and watch us go
And if you close your eyes
There's a big surprise
What the f*** are we saying?
Do we feel what we dream about?
We've got to keep on praying
And one day we'll see the light
I've been lost in the name of love
And we kill our brothers daily in the name of God
We'd better chill before we take on some tribulation
And if we realized
Then we'd make a little love now sing
What the f*** are we saying?
Do we believe what we read about?
We've got to keep on praying
And one day we'll see the light
And one day we'll see the light
And one day we'll see the light
And one day we'll see the light
What the f*** are we saying?
Do we believe what we dream about?
We've got to keep on praying
And one day we'll see the light
And one day we'll see the light
And one day we'll see the light
And one day we'll see the light
The lyrics in Lenny Kravitz's song "What The F*** Are We Saying?" explore the uncertainties of humanity's fate and the individual's relationship with larger forces such as the government and religion. Kravitz wonders if we will ever fully understand the complexities of the world around us or if our future is predetermined by external forces beyond our control. The lyrics suggest an underlying theme of disillusionment with the established systems of power that govern our lives, and a call to action to question these systems and strive for enlightenment.
The first verse questions the fate of humanity and our ability to understand it, suggesting that it is beyond our control. The following verse expresses Kravitz's distrust of the government, implying that it is responsible for manipulating and controlling the masses. he also highlights the pervasive nature of lies and deceit in the political sphere.
In the chorus, Kravitz again questions what we truly believe and understand about the world, asking if we are simply dreaming or if we have a deeper understanding that we need to tap into. He suggests that prayer may be a way to connect with God or a universal truth and find the answers we seek.
The second verse explores the idea of love and religion, and the oftentimes violent and divisive actions committed in their names. Kravitz urges people to chill out and reconsider their actions, as they may lead to negative consequences. He suggests that a solution may be found in "making a little love now."
In the final chorus, Kravitz again questions what we truly believe and understand, emphasizing the need for prayer to lead us to enlightenment and the truth.
Overall, "What The F*** Are We Saying?" is a commentary on the confusion and uncertainty of modern life, and a call to action to question authority and strive for a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
