1) Lucero is an American country-punk rock band that is based in Memphis, Tennessee. Their punk rock roots flavour their now "country-ish" music, while their Southern roots give them the twang that they have come to be known by. The band played for the first time in early 1998. Since 2001, they have played between 150 and 200 shows a year across the United States and Canada. They have released eight full-length albums, the latest entitled Women & Work.
The members of Lucero are Roy Berry (drums), John C. Stubblefield (bass), Brian Venable (guitar), and Ben Nichols (guitar and vocals), and occasionally Rick Steff (piano, organ, accordion). Todd Gill substituted for Brian Venable from 2003 to 2004. The band also experimented with guitarist Steve Selvidge in the early months of 2003. Ben Nichols' previous band was Red 40 in which he played alongside Colin Brooks and Steve Kooms.
In late 2008 the band announced they had signed a four album deal with Universal Music Group. Their album, 1372 Overton Park, was released October 6, 2009.
The Last Pale Light in the West, the first solo release from frontman Ben Nichols, was released in January 2009 on the band's own label Liberty & Lament. The 7 song record was inspired by Cormac McCarthy's book Blood Meridian.

Que fuiste tu el principio y el fin
Voy, a dejar el orgullo
Y a decirte lo mucho
Que me duele tu adios
Y no he podido aceptarlo
Pues se que ya,
Para ti termino
A estos labios que sufren
Y estan secos por ti
Cuanto quieres tu,
Que yo espere
Cuando la esperanza me duele
Como si lo grande del dolor
Se midiera con las noches
Que, te he extrañado
De que forma esperas
Que te ame
Cuántas veces quieres, matarme
Como si el tamaño de mi amor
Se midiera con las lágrimas
Que he llorado por ti
(He llorado por ti)
No, nunca voy a entenderlo
Como haces tu,
Pues pareces feliz
Es donde entra la duda
De si vale la pena
Lo que siento por ti
Cuanto quieres tu
Que yo espere
Cuando la esperanza me duele
Como si lo grande del dolor
Se midiera con las noches
Que, te he extrañado
De que forma esperas
Que te ame
Cuántas veces quieres, matarme
Como si el tamaño de mi amor
Se midiera con las lágrimas
Que he llorado, por ti
(He llorado por ti)
Por ti
(He llorado por ti)
The lyrics to Lucero's "La Duda" tell a story of heartbreak and confusion. The singer is admitting to themselves and to their former lover that they were the beginning and end of their love story. They are willing to let go of their pride and express how much the breakup has hurt them, and how they have not been able to accept it because they know that for their lover it is over. The singer wants their ex to hear how much they are suffering and how much they miss them, but they also question how long they are expected to wait and how much more pain they have to endure.
What adds to the complexity of the song is the doubt that the singer expresses towards their ex's happiness. They cannot understand how their former partner seems content with the breakup, which makes them question if the love they had for them is worth holding onto. The lyrics ask how much more the singer is expected to feel and suffer for their love when their ex seems unaffected. This creates a sense of confusion and inner conflict in the singer, who seems to struggle with their own feelings and whether or not to hold onto hope for a reunion.
Overall, "La Duda" is a powerful song that portrays the complexity of love, heartbreak, and doubt. The lyrics are raw and sincere, reflecting the emotions many individuals go through when experiencing a broken heart. The song expresses the question that often persists after a relationship has ended, "Is it worth holding onto feelings for someone who doesn't feel the same way?"

No, yo no voy a negarlo
I won't deny it
Que fuiste tu el principio y el fin
That you were the beginning and the end
Voy, a dejar el orgullo
I'm going to put aside my pride
Y a decirte lo mucho
And tell you how much
Que me duele tu adios
Your goodbye hurts me
Y no he podido aceptarlo
And I haven't been able to accept it
Pues se que ya,
Because I know that
Para ti termino
It's over for you
Hoy solo quiero que escuches
Today I just want you to listen
A estos labios que sufren
To these lips that suffer
Y estan secos por ti
And are dry because of you
Cuanto quieres tu,
How much do you want
Que yo espere
Me to wait
Cuando la esperanza me duele
When hope hurts me
Como si lo grande del dolor
As if the size of the pain
Se midiera con las noches
Was measured by the nights
Que, te he extrañado
That I have missed you
De que forma esperas
In what way do you expect
Que te ame
Me to love you
Cuántas veces quieres, matarme
How many times do you want to kill me
Como si el tamaño de mi amor
As if the size of my love
Se midiera con las lágrimas
Was measured by the tears
Que he llorado por ti
That I have cried for you
(He llorado por ti)
(I have cried for you)
No, nunca voy a entenderlo
No, I will never understand it
Como haces tu,
How you do it
Pues pareces feliz
Because you seem happy
Es donde entra la duda
That's where the doubt comes in
De si vale la pena
If it's worth it
Lo que siento por ti
What I feel for you
Por ti
For you
(He llorado por ti)
(I have cried for you)

--- LA DUDA ---
( JORGE AVENDAÑO L. )
NO , YO NO VOY A NEGARLO, QUE FUISTE TÚ,
EL PRINCIPIO Y EL FIN....
VOY, A DEJAR EL ORGULLO Y A DECIRTE LO MUCHO QUE ME DUELE TU ADIÓS,
Y NO HE PODIDO ACEPTARLO, PUES SE QUE YA,
PARA TI TERMINO....
HOY SÓLO QUIERO QUE ESCUCHES A ESTOS LABIOS QUE SUFREN Y ESTAN SECOS POR TI...
CUANTO QUIERES TU, QUE YO ESPERE,
CUANDO LA ESPERANZA SE MUERE,
COMO SI LO GRANDE DEL DOLOR, SE MIDIERA
POR LAS NOCHES QUE TE HE EXTRAÑADO.
DE QUE FORMA ESPERAS QUE TE AME,
CUANTAS VECES QUIERES MATARME,
COMO SI EL TAMAÑO DE MI AMOR SE MIDIERA
CON LAS LÁGRIMAS QUE HE LLORADO POR TI.
( HE LLORADO POR TI ).
NO, NUNCA VOY A ENTENDERLO,
COMO HACES TÚ, PUES PARECES FELIZ,
ES DONDE ENTRA LA DUDA,
DE QUE SI ALE LA PENA, LO QUE SIENTO POR TI.
CUANTO QUIERES TU, QUE YO ESPERE,
CUANDO LA ESPERANZA SE MUERE,
COMO SI LO GRANDE DEL DOLOR, SE MIDIERA
POR LAS NOCHES QUE TE HE EXTRAÑADO.
DE QUE FORMA ESPERAS QUE TE AME,
CUANTAS VECES QUIERES MATARME,
COMO SI EL TAMAÑO DE MI AMOR SE MIDIERA
CON LAS LÁGRIMAS QUE HE LLORADO POR TI.
( HE LLORADO POR TI ). POR TI.
( HE LLORADO POR TI )
