Once, around the age of five when Lucky's mother came with him to receive Mehmood at the airport, Lucky didn't recognize his father and on seeing him said, "He's the film comedian Mehmood!" Lucky Ali lived away from his family in a boarding school up in the foothills of the Himalayas in Mussoorie. Lucky's tryst with marijuana led Mehmood to write the script of the movie Dushman Duniya Ka (Enemy of the World).[3] The movie stars Ali's youngest brother,Manzoor. It is the story of the drug abuse of a young man called Lucky. In the end the young man kills his mother, destroys everything around him and is then killed by his father. This album won many of the top awards in Indian music, including the Best Pop Male Vocalist at the 1996 Screen Awards and the Channel V Viewers Choice Award in 1997. It stayed on the MTV Asia Charts for 60 weeks. The song O Sanam from Sunoh, launched his career and is considered by some to be one of the best indi-pop songs ever.[1] His next album, Sifar, wasn't quite as successful as Sunoh, but it was noted for its music, lyrics and vocals.

Yeh kiska hain, Chehra
Tanhai buri par dil khush rehta hai
Yeh sara zamana kehtaa hai
Manzil manzil harbaar chalte raho,
Bante raho, Mera hai kya?
Sayyaah sayyaah raahon se mujhe hai lena kyaa
Main chala jahan pyaar le chalaaa
Main chala jahan pyaar hai meraaa
Mai bura ya bhala kehta o rehnuma
Mera tumse ajeeb ek rishta hai
Kismat ne kya yeh sab dikhlaye hain, Suljhaye hain, tum bhi chalo
Sayyaah sayyaah raahon se mujhe hai lena kya
Main chala jahan pyaar le chalaaaa
Sayyaah sayyaah isse koi samjhe yahaan
Mai chala jahan pyaar hai meraaa
Sayyaah sayyaah raahon se mujhe hain lena kyaa
Main chala jahan pyaar hain meraaa
Sayyaah sayyaah isse koi samjhe yahaan
Har koi mujhe dekhta rahaaa
Sayyaah sayyaah samjhe isse koiii yahaan
Mai chala jahan pyaar hain meraaa
Sayyaah sayyaah mujhe koi samjhe yahan
Main chala jahan pyaar hain meraaa..
The lyrics of "Sayyāh" by Lucky Ali express a deep longing and connection between two individuals. The singer describes how his heart finds solace and stillness in the presence and gestures of his beloved. The mention of "adaon" (gestures) suggests that it's not just the words or actions but the essence of his beloved that creates a strong bond with him. The questioning tone of "Yeh kiska hain, Chehra" signifies a sense of wonder and amazement at the mystery of love and attraction.
The singer reflects on how despite being surrounded by solitude, his heart remains content. This reflects the idea that love can bring inner peace and happiness even in moments of loneliness. The mention of the world acknowledging this connection indicates the universality and undeniable nature of true love. The lines "Manzil manzil harbaar chalte raho, Bante raho, Mera hai kya?" convey a sense of journey and growth in love, where the destination is not as important as the experience and evolution it brings.
The repeated refrain of "Sayyaah Sayyaah raahon se mujhe hai lena kyaa" conveys a sense of surrender and acceptance to the path that love takes him on. This willingness to follow the path of love, regardless of where it leads, shows the depth of his emotions and commitment. The singer contrasts the confusion and misunderstanding of others with his own clarity and conviction about the presence of love in his life. The repetition of "Main chala jahan pyaar hai meraaa" reinforces his belief and dedication to love as the guiding force in his life.
The lyrics also touch upon the complexity and unpredictability of relationships, symbolized by the lines "Mera tumse ajeeb ek rishta hai, Kismat ne kya yeh sab dikhlaye hain." Despite the challenges and uncertainties, the singer urges his beloved to walk with him and face whatever comes their way together. The recurring theme of understanding and misinterpretation by others emphasizes the unique and personal nature of their connection. The song ends with a sense of resilience and determination to hold onto love amidst the judgment and perceptions of others.
