Photographs of paper planes
And you love me
Watching the sunrise
Pockets filled with forget-me-nots
That say you love me
All along, you were here to stay
Never noticed, till you said i love you on a paper plane
La la la la la la love
La la la la la la love
Cool blowing breeze
Lifts up my feet
To show me you love me
Large paper planes
Take you so far away
But i know you love me
All along, you were here to stay
Never noticed, till you said i love you on a paper plane
You said i love you on a paper plane
La la la la la la love
La la la la la la love
So for all that you do
I will send my lovin' to you
Boy, you make me fly
Again, again, again
All along, you were here to stay
Never noticed, till you said I love you on a paper plane
You said i love you on a paper plane
La la la la la la love
La la la la la la love
The lyrics to Lucy Schwartz's song Paper Plane are a romantic and whimsical description of the joy and surprise that comes with realizing that someone has been in love with you all along. The imagery in the song is playful and poetic, using metaphors like "photographs of paper planes" and "large paper planes take you so far away" to describe the flight and soaring feeling that comes with being in love.
The chorus of the song, which repeats the phrase "you said I love you on a paper plane" several times, is particularly powerful in its simplicity. It speaks to the idea that sometimes the most meaningful expressions of love can come in unexpected ways, and that it's important to be open and attentive to those moments.
