Paranoid Circus
Lyriel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hands and fingers, arms and neck
For the promise to find out
What it is all about
It's already down to heads or tails

Moira did belief in virtue and honesty but
You know innocence breaks so easily
So you can't choose it's not on you to know what's right
Everything is set for the final fight

Deep inside you know it's not just black or white
You are well prepared for the final fight

Every day is judged by the framework
Of your certain point of view

Life is change just like the withering truth

Truth is just a philosophic term
That doesn’t serve the ways of life

Those who want to know bout life must
Find the trace of truth

I'm tired, would you take me home
Where I can rest in your arms
I don't need to make amends
But the streets where you take me home
Recall my paranoid circus of formative years

Playback life and anabolic arguments instead
Maybe that's it all about
It's already down to heads or tails

So she killed herself on a lovely morning
And the rising sun smiled in her numbly eyes

So please show me where the truth is in that sweet tale
You have to admit, it's nothing but a bale

Everything has failed if you can't see what's bright
What you see out there is just what you see inside

Reality is nothing than the register
Of crimes of a humankind

Now you agree it's up to us to do the what?s right

Right comes along with fortune
But fortune is a furtive friend indeed

You can only find the key of fortune in yourself

I'm tired, would you take me home
Where I can rest in your arms
I don't need to make amends
But the streets where you take me home
Recall my paranoid circus of formative years

Of formative years
I'm so tired

Overall Meaning

"Paranoid Circus" by Lyriel is a haunting and thought-provoking song that addresses the nuances of truth, innocence, and perspective. The song opens with an image of body parts - hands, fingers, arms, and neck - which symbolize the physical and emotional toll that comes with the search for truth ("For the promise to find out / What it is all about.") The chorus suggests that the journey to uncover the truth is tumultuous but inevitable, "...It's already down to heads or tails."

The song then references Moira, who believed in virtue and honesty, but "you know innocence breaks so easily." This line implies that the ideals of innocence and purity are fragile and can be corrupted by the reality of the world around us. The lyrics convey a sense of struggle to understand what is right, with the refrain "Everything is set for the final fight," suggesting that this question may ultimately lead to a battle between two opposing forces.

The second verse continues to grapple with the idea of truth, describing it as a philosophic term that does not necessarily serve the ways of life. The song encourages those who want to understand life to "find the trace of truth." The bridge then introduces a personal angle, with the singer expressing a desire to return home and escape the world around them. The final verse hints at tragedy, with Moira committing suicide, and the sun smiling "in her numbly eyes."

Overall, "Paranoid Circus" speaks to the complexity and elusiveness of the truth, and the personal toll that comes with the search for it. The song uses rich imagery and thought-provoking lyrics to convey a sense of confusion, struggle, and ultimately, acceptance.

I love the key changing with the final chorus at 3:23. It reminds my of some older pop songs where it was used to make the ending more epic. Nowadays it's very rare to hear this unfortunately, especially in a metal song.

after going through so many (nightwish, xandria, tristania) that are almost what i want with minor offense to my taste, i found lyriel... this is divine.

I love that this band has real string instruments instead of just keyboards. It sounds really awesome. Been looking for something like this for a long time.

Takachi Shima

This song is perfect.

Astra

This song has such a powerful chorus, plus a great atmosphere to it. Am I the only one that can't believe how people go on about all these "hot" pop stars that wear practically nothing when you have actual singers like this that are 1000000x more attractive and are way classier to boot.
