In the past, band members dressed in outlandish makeup and costumes, and engaged in intentionally shocking behavior both onstage and off. Their lyrics often received criticism for their anti-religious sentiment and references to sex, violence and drugs, while their live performances were frequently called offensive and obscene. On several occasions, protests and petitions led to the group being blocked from performing, with at least three US states passing legislation banning the group from performing at state-owned venues. They released a number of platinum-selling albums, including Antichrist Superstar (1996) and Mechanical Animals (1998). These albums, along with their highly stylized music videos and worldwide touring, brought public recognition to Marilyn Manson. In 1999, news media, infamously, falsely blamed the band for influencing the perpetrators of the Columbine High School massacre.
As this controversy began to wane throughout the 2000s, so did the band's mainstream popularity. Despite this, Jon Wiederhorn of MTV, in June 2003, referred to Marilyn Manson as "the only true artist today". Marilyn Manson is widely regarded as being one of the most iconic and controversial figures in rock music, with the band and its lead singer influencing numerous other groups and musicians, both in metal-associated acts and also in wider popular culture. VH1 ranked Marilyn Manson as the seventy-eighth best rock band on their 100 Great Artists of Hard Rock. They were inducted into the Kerrang! Hall of Fame in 2000, and have been nominated for four Grammy Awards. In the U.S., the band has seen ten of its releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. Marilyn Manson have sold in excess of 50 million records worldwide.

Like a Virgin
Marilyn Manson Lyrics

Some how I made it through
Didn't know how lost I was until I found you
I was beat, incomplete I'd been had I was sad and blue
But you make me feel so shiny and new
Yeah you make me feel yeah you make me feel so shiny and new
Like a virgin touched for the very first time
When your heart beats next to mine
Gonna give you all the love boy my fear is fading fast
Been saving it all for you coz only love can last
You're so fine and your mine, make me strong
Yeah you make me feel that our love can last
Like a virgin touched for the very first time
Like a virgin
When your heart beats next to mine
Whoo x3
You're so fine and your mine I'll be yours till the end of time
Coz you make me feel yeah you make me feel so shiny and new
Like a virgin touched for the very first time
Like a virgin
When your heart beats next to mine
The lyrics of Marilyn Manson's song "Like a Virgin" are a reimagining of Madonna's classic hit of the same name. Marilyn Manson's version takes on a darker, more sinister tone that skews the original song's themes of innocence and newfound love. The lyrics start off with the singer acknowledging that they have gone through some form of hardship, and that they didn't realize how lost they were until they found the person they are singing to. The singer admits to feeling incomplete, beaten, and sad before their love interest enters the picture. However, being with their love interest makes them feel "shiny" and new, as if they have been reborn.
The chorus of the song is where the darker themes really come into play. The singer compares their experience with their love interest to that of a virgin being touched for the first time, and even states that their love can last because "only love can last." There is a sense of obsession and possessiveness in the lyrics, as the singer declares they will give their love interest all their love and that they will be together until the end of time.
Overall, the lyrics of Marilyn Manson's "Like a Virgin" take the original song's themes and turn them on their head, creating a twisted love story that blends elements of darkness and obsession.

Haven't heard this since the Napster days. Everyone friggin named everything wrong just to get it heard. I remember finding VNV Nation - Honour because someone misnamed it as nine inch nails. Ronin Harris doesn't sound a damn thing like Trent.... but hey, it got me to listen to VNV.

I had a VNV Nation - Honour as "Slowdriver", maybe the artist was named Marilyn Manson, I don't remember. But I really liked that song and had a friend who had Slowdriver parties with her friend (both girl, just not girlfriend :/ ). This is how I got to know VNV Nation :)

Here is the full, unshortened version of this track. Why is there so much controversy about the artist of this track? Well, it's definitely Marilyn Manson's vocals. It is unclear only when this track was mixed. Somewhere it was mentioned that this is the end of the 90s, co-written with Trent Reznor. But in terms of the style of performance, I would attribute this track to the times of MM & The Spooky Kids.
@tubbabee
#1) this is not Manson. this is VNV Nation; im wholeheartedly disappointed nobody uploaded it as such on YouTube!
#2) this is only like 1/3 of the song, this video cut out literally the majority of the song for some reason-
@scrotooftheninefingers218
Wrong. This is very, very early Manson. VNV doesn’t even sound like this my dude
Also, I’m pretty sure this is the whole track, so…. You are incorrect to the second power
