These lyrics, from Melina Aslanidou's song "Ellada Eparhia" (Greek for "Rural Greece"), portray a nostalgic and bittersweet depiction of life and dreams in the Greek countryside. The verses describe a provincial town where empty classrooms leave their mark on the singer, and where a historical lance stands on a balcony as a reminder of the past. The darkened screens in cafes play the news, while the desire to run, play, and love emerges.
The mention of a radio awakening the body speaks to the power of music and its ability to bring emotions to life. The reference to the singer Dimitris Mitropanos and his "curtains" signifies a sentimental and soul-stirring quality, as his songs captivate the listener. The phrase "closing your eyes, you are finally yourself" suggests finding solace and authenticity in the chaos of life.
The chorus, with its energetic and vivid language, transports the listener to a night of revelry and wildness. The howling speakers in the club represent the frenzy and passion experienced in the midst of chaos. The dream chases the singer, embodying the desire for a different reality. The song captures the essence of rural Greece, where traditional festivities mix with modern technology, and where the struggle between tradition and progress is ever-present.
