In 2001 Merche were in the Spanish pre-selection for Eurovision Song Contest with the song "No Pidas Mas Amor" under the name Luna. She finished in 6th place, but signed with Vale Music and start to record her first album Mi Sueño. From spring 2002 to the end of summer, the single "No Pidas Mas Amor" was a national hit in Spain, with TV appearances supporting the single and album, and was also the title track of the Spanish version of Big Brother.
"Como Pude" was released as second single, but sales were not as high as expected. In fall 2002 the third single, "Le Deseo" was released, and the album became a hit, up to #12 some weeks, and certificated gold, and a months later, platinum.
In the summer of 2003 the fourth single was released, "Mi Sueño", also with supporting appearances in TV.
In 2002 and 2003, Merche toured with her first album, in the Mi Sueño Tour, where she sang all songs from the album and two covers of other artists, Alaska's "A Quien Le Importa" and Ray Heredia's "Alegria de Vivir".

In this song, Merche is singing about a breakup and how her partner is leaving her. She is unsure of why everything has suddenly turned upside down and why her partner is leaving to hurt her. She acknowledges that her partner needs her hugs, but their body no longer reacts to her charms. Merche recognizes that her once passionate gaze towards her partner is now empty and cold. The chorus emphasizes that she won't cry over her partner leaving and will instead continue living her life. She does not want an explanation and her partner should not try to contact her again. Merche tells her partner to not continue speaking and instead will only remain as friends.
This song portrays the struggles of a breakup, the sudden shift of love to emptiness, and trying to move on. Merche's lyrics show a sense of power as she chooses to continue living her life and moves herself forward without her former partner.
