Finding his voice in a school choir, Crawford began his professional career still a teenager. Having some luck on the London stage in the early 60s, he then found his way onto the BBC and starred in various programmes such as 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em'. He also had film roles in 'The War Lover', 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'. and 'How I Won the War' (which brought him into the same work as John Lennon).
Andrew Lloyd Webber's casting of him opposite Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton as the Phantom in 1986 shot his career into high gear. Winning a Tony Award for his role, Crawford also had the aforementioned tune, "The Music Of The Night", reach the British Top Ten. He has released several studio albums such as 'A Touch of Music in the Night' and 'On Eagle's Wings' among others.

[Che:]
And the money kept rolling in from every side
Eva′s pretty hands reached out and they reached wide
Now you may feel it should have been a voluntary cause
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling in, you don′t ask how
Eva's called the hungry to her, open up the doors
Never been a fund like the Foundation Eva Peron
[Chorus:]
[Workers:]
Rollin' rollin′ rollin′, rollin' rollin′ rollin'
Rollin′ rollin' rollin′, rollin' rollin' rollin′
Rollin′ rollin' rollin′, rollin' rollin′ rollin'
Rollin′ rollin' rollin', rollin′ rollin′ rollin'
Rollin′ on in, rollin' on in
Rollin′ on in, rollin' on in
On in
[Che:]
Would you like to try a college education?
Own your landlord′s house, take the family on vacation?
Eva and her blessed fund can make your dreams come true
Here's all you have to do my friends
Write your name and your dream on a card or a pad or a ticket
Throw it high in the air and should our lady pick it
She will change your way of life for a week or even two
Name me anyone who cares as much as Eva Peron
[Chorus]
Rollin' on out, rollin′ on out
Rollin′ on out, rollin' on out
On out
[Che:]
And the money kept rolling out in all directions
To the poor, to the weak, to the destitute of all complexions
Now cynics claim a little of the cash has gone astray
But that′s not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling out you don't keep books
You can tell you′ve done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down, figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron
[Chorus]
Rollin' on out, rollin′ on out
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
On out
[Che:]
Eva!
When the money keeps rolling out you don′t keep books
You can tell you′ve done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down, figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron
[Chorus]
Rollin' on out, rollin′ on out
Rollin' on out, rollin′ on out
Rollin' on out, rollin′ on out
On out
The song "And the Money Kept Rolling In" from the musical Evita is sung by the character Che as a commentary on Eva Peron's role in Argentina. The lyrics convey the idea of Eva's ability to amass a vast amount of money from all directions and the way in which she uses it for her Foundation. Che says that the money is not a voluntary contribution, but rather a result of Eva's powerful personality and her ability to draw people in. The Foundation is seen as a means to guarantee a good time for everyone, and Eva is hailed as a savior for her works.
The lyrics convey the dark side of philanthropy and how it is used to maintain power and control over the masses. The song's chorus, "Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'", reinforces the idea that the money is always flowing and never-ending. The lyrics also depict Eva's willingness to manipulate people, as she promises to fulfill their dreams if they write their name and desire on a card and toss it into the air.
Overall, the song is a commentary on the power of money and its ability to control people. It also highlights the darker side of philanthropy and how it can be used as a tool for control and manipulation.
