I used to live in New York City
At one point in my life, I resided in the bustling metropolis of New York City.

However, no other city can replace the importance that Detroit holds in my heart.

Not for my hometown
Detroit is the city that I grew up in and consider to be my true home.

That place people avoid
Although Detroit has faced many challenges and has a reputation for being dangerous, I still love it and consider it to be a part of my identity.

I've made love in every city
Throughout my travels, I have had romantic encounters in many different locations.

But I'll be buried in Detroit
Despite my many experiences and travels, my heart belongs in Detroit and that is where I want to spend eternity.

I don't claim to be a prophet
I am not a spiritual or religious leader who claims to have divine knowledge or foresight.

I just speak my mind
I am honest about my thoughts and opinions, even if they are not popular.

I try to tell it like it is
I strive to communicate the truth, even if it is difficult or uncomfortable to hear.

And sometimes God makes it rhyme
I feel that sometimes there is a higher power that helps me express myself through poetry and music.

I like my songs how I like my women
I prefer my music to be straightforward and honest, just like my romantic partners.

Honest and to the point
I value honesty and directness in both my music and in my relationships.

You see I got fucked up in Stockholm
I had a difficult experience while visiting Stockholm, Sweden.

But I'll be buried in Detroit
Despite any hardships I faced during my travels, I still know that my soul belongs in Detroit.

I am aware of my own mortality and know that I will eventually pass away.

I feel that my time on earth may be shorter than I would like it to be.

However, I am respected and admired for my ability to write powerful and meaningful music.

I was able to earn a significant amount of wealth and income through my music career.

Though I never really was employed
Despite my financial success, I do not consider my music to be a regular job or form of employment.

I had a girl from San Diego
At one point, I had a romantic partner who was from San Diego, California.

I killed a show in Indonesia
I had a very successful concert performance in the country of Indonesia.

But I'll be buried in
Despite any accomplishments or triumphs in my life, my ultimate destination is Detroit.

I made love in every city
Throughout my life, I have had romantic experiences in many different locations.

But I'll be buried in Detroit
Regardless of all my travels and experiences in life, Detroit is where I will make my final resting place.
