Combining a passion for J.K. Rowling and the wonders of the digitial age, Ministry of Magic presses the genre of wizard rock into a newer, less visited world: wizardtronic. The music of MoM is a tapestry of orchestra, pop, rock, dance, and hip-hop carefully woven to create a full sensory experience for the type of fan attracted to wizard rock: imaginative, discerning, and filled with an appetite for something more than just the middle of the road.
They were signed to Indytronic Records until that label's dissolution. As of 2010, they have released five albums -- four LPs and an EP. The Triwizard Lp (2007), Goodbye Privet Drive (2008), Acoustiatius (EP, 2008), and Onward and Upward were released under Indytronic Records, and their latest offering, Magic is Might (2010), was released independently. In addition, members Mark Jennings and Jason Munday, along with Jeremy Jennings, worked on a side project under the name "Muggle Relations". Their lone EP to date is titled "I Must Not Tell Lies" (2009).
They have collaborated with a few wizard rock artists such as The Remus Lupins, Kristina Horner from The Parselmouths and The Moaning Myrtles. MoM was also featured on 'Jingle Spells' and 'Jingle Spells 2', two charity compilation albums to raise money for Book Aid International.
Seven Shadows
Ministry of Magic Lyrics

Straining through the gray
Searching for the seven shadows
Dog our half-blind steps
One hope to heal now
Tethered to a goal
Titanic in scope and vision
Far beyond our reach
Chorus (Jason)
Now we’re running
Chasing after an end
We could only find in dreams
Now we’re running
With persistence the distance
Is much closer than it seems
Verse 2 (Luke)
Lockets, parchments, snakes
Wrapped up in prestigious vessels
Filled to the brim
With phantoms and ash
Was what you were
A vapor riding on the winds
Of fortune blow
Bring rest at last
Chorus (Jason)
Now we’re running
Chasing after an end
We could only find in dreams
Now we’re running
With persistence the distance
Is much closer than it seems
Verse 3 (Mark)
Sword of Gryffindor
Ruby laid in lightning striking
Basilisk fang
Pale as a grave
Danger haunting us
The one you have marked
As your equal
Power you don’t know
Now haunting you
Chorus (Jason)
Now we’re running
Chasing after an end
We could only find in dreams
Now we’re running
With persistence the distance
Is much closer than it seems
The lyrics of Ministry of Magic's Seven Shadows talks about a journey towards a goal that seems too far, too grandiose, and too dangerous. The seven shadows represent the obstacles or challenges that are present in the journey, as mentioned in the first verse, where they are described as half-blind steps, tethered to a goal, and shrouded in black cold. However, despite the difficulties, the characters in the song continue to pursue their goal, showing persistence and determination that they hope to achieve.
In the second verse, the song talks about the things that the characters carry with them, such as lockets, parchments, and snakes, which could represent their past or history, and how these things are just vessels filled with phantoms and ash. This talks about how the characters carry their baggage with them but also acknowledges that these things don't matter now as the characters are pushing forward towards the end goal.
The last verse talks about the danger and challenge that the characters face, mentioning specific elements related to the magical world, such as the Sword of Gryffindor, Ruby, Basilisk Fang, and power that is haunting them. The use of these elements portrays a sense of urgency and high stakes in the characters' journey towards their ultimate goal.
Overall, the song's message is about persistence, determination, and the willingness to overcome challenges to reach a goal, even if it seems too grand and dangerous.
