Except for frontman Willy DeVille, the original members of the band played only on the first two albums ('Cabretta' and 'Return to Magenta'). For the remaining albums and for tours, Willy DeVille assembled musicians to play under the name Mink DeVille. After 1985, when Willy DeVille began recording and touring under his own name (saying that he felt tired of being referred to as 'Mink' after performances), his backup bands were sometimes called 'The Mink DeVille Band,' an allusion to the earlier 'Mink DeVille' group.

But on the night we met
You stole my heart away
Little boy, can't help it if I show it
But I wish that you would love me too
Just as much as I love you
That you were meant for me
Little boy, please let me be your little girl
Little boy, I hope you do believe me
'Cause it would break my heart
If you should walk away
Little boy, just say you'll never leave me
And I'll give my heart and soul to you
Then you'll see our love is true
Yes, and I know you'll see
How much you mean to me
Little boy, please let me be your little girl
I just want to go every place that you go
And do everything that you do
I just want to know everyone that you know
Then spend my whole life loving you
Yes, and I know you'll see
How much you mean to me
Little boy, please let me be your little girl
Little boy
Little boy
Little boy

In Mink DeVille's song "Little Girl," the singer is deeply in love with a boy who she believes is meant to be her partner. She addresses "little boy," acknowledging that he probably does not know that he stole her heart on the night they met. She wishes that he would love her in return, just as much as she loves him. The singer believes that if he could see their love is true, then he would know that they were meant to be together. She implores him to let her be his little girl and promises to give her heart and soul to him if he loves her back.
The song is a classic tale of unrequited love, which is relatable to many people. It speaks to the deep-seated desire to be loved and the vulnerability that comes with it. The lyrics are presented in a simple and direct manner, which adds to the emotional power of the song. The use of the term "little girl" reinforces the idea that the singer is ready to submit herself entirely to someone else for love. The song touches on themes like innocence, longing, and the desire to belong.
