1) Mistinguett (… Read Full Bio ↴There are two performers with the name Mistinguett:
1) Mistinguett (April 5, 1875 – January 5, 1956 from Enghien-les-Bains, Val-d’Oise, Île-de-France, France) was a French actress and singer, with the birth name of Jeanne Bourgeois.
At an early age she aspired to be an entertainer. She began as a flower-seller in a restaurant in her home-town, singing popular ballads as she sold her flowers. When a song-writing acquaintance made up the name Miss Tinguette, Jeanne liked it. She made it her own by joining it together and eventually dropping the second S and the final E (Mistinguett).
Jeanne Bourgeois made her debut as Mistinguett at the Casino de Paris in 1895, and appeared also in shows as the Folies Bergere, Moulin Rouge, and Eldorado. Her risqué routines captivated Paris and she went on to become the most popular French entertainer of her time and the highest paid female entertainer in the world. In 1919, her legs were insured for the then astounding amount of 500,000 francs.
She had a long relationship with the much younger Maurice Chevalier, but it was other more torrid love affairs that became legendary.
She first recorded her signature song Mon Homme in 1920. It was popularized under its English title My Man by Fanny Brice and has become a standard in the repertoire of numerous pop and jazz singers.
During a tour of the United States, she was asked by Time magazine to explain her popularity. Her answer was: “It is a kind of magnetism. I say ‘Come closer’ and draw them to me.”
Jeanne Bourgeois’ career lasted over fifty years. She died at the age of 80 and is buried in the Cimetiere Enghien-les-Bains, Île-de-France, France.
2) Jô Mistinguett is graduated in DJ and Musical Production from the International Academy of Electronic Music of Curitiba (Brazil). She started the project Gomma Fou, with Pericles M. (current Bo$$ in Drama) during the Motomix Festival – 2006. The project was well praised in print and online local and international media. After the end of the partnership, she created her solo project – Mistinguett – with her own compositions, vocal and influence of musical strands such as the new-wave, post-punk, synth-pop and electro-punk.
In 2007, she independently released the EP "Will You Say Here?", produced by Marcel Dadalto, and awarded the London Burning in the category of best independent electronic music EP. The same EP was pre-selected in TIM Music award. The national and international repercussions came with remixes and invitations for different projects, including: tlbmS (Denmark), Database (Brazil), NT89 (Italy), Shoyano (Japan), PopTron. Corp (France) and Cute Heels (Colombia). The song She-ra is making part of the movie “Audie & the Wolf’’, from Los Angeles- CA, out in August 14, 2008.

But there's one thing that I've got
It's my man
Cold and wet, tired you bet
But all that I soon forget
With my man
He's not much for looks
And no hero out of books
Two or three girls has he
That he likes as well as me
But I love him!
I don't know why I should
He isn't good, he isn't true
He beats me too
What can I do?
Oh, my man I love him so
He'll never know
All my life is just despair
But I don't care
When he takes me in his arms
The world is bright, all right
What's the difference if I say
I'll go away, When I know
I'll come back on my knees some day?
For whatever my man is
I am his forever more
Oh, my man I love him
Sometimes I say
If I could just get away
With my man
He'd go straight sure as fate
For it never is too late
For a man
I just like to dream
Of a cottage by a stream
With my man
Where a few flowers grew
And perhaps a kid or two
Like my man
And then my eyes get wet
I most forget till he gets hot
And tells me not to talk such rot
Oh, my man I love him so
He'll never know
All my life is just despair
But I don't care
When he takes me in his arms
The world is bright, all right
What's the difference if I say
I'll go away, When I know
I'll come back on my knees some day?
For what ever my man is
I am his forever more
The song "Mon Homme" by Mistinguett tells the story of a woman who is deeply in love with a man who doesn't treat her well. She admits that she knows he isn't good or true, and that he even beats her, but she can't help but love him. The lyrics convey the complex emotions that often come with being in an unhealthy or abusive relationship, where the person being abused may still feel tied to their abuser due to feelings of love and attachment.
The singer describes how being with her man makes all of her problems disappear and the world feels bright again. She dreams of a future with him, of settling down and having a family, but ultimately knows that she'll always come crawling back to him, even if she sometimes considers leaving. The song captures the sense of desperation and despair that often comes with being in a relationship with someone who mistreats you, yet also highlights the depth of love and longing that can be present in such a situation.

But all that I soon forget
His flaws or unfavorable conditions do not matter to me
With my man
As long as I have my man, everything is all right
He's not much for looks
My man is not conventionally attractive
And no hero out of books
He is not a hero from a storybook
Is my man
But he is my man, regardless
Two or three girls has he
He has other girls he likes, in addition to me
That he likes as well as me
He has affection for those other girls like he has for me
But I love him!
Yet, I still love him the most
I don't know why I should
I don't have a reason to love him

The world is bright, all right
My world is instantly better
What's the difference if I say
It does not matter if I threaten to leave him
I'll go away, When I know
Even if I try to leave
I'll come back on my knees some day?
I know I will eventually come crawling back to him
For what ever my man is
No matter what kind of man he is
I am his forever more
I will always be devoted to him
Sometimes I say
At times I imagine
If I could just get away
If only I could escape
With my man
I dream of running away with him
He'd go straight sure as fate
I believe he would change for the better
For it never is too late
It's never too late for redemption
For a man
For any man
I just like to dream
I simply enjoy dreaming
Of a cottage by a stream
Of a peaceful and idyllic home
Where a few flowers grew
Where there are a just a couple flowers
And perhaps a kid or two
And maybe a child or two
Like my man
That look like him
And then my eyes get wet
I start to cry
I most forget till he gets hot
But my emotions fade as soon as he becomes angry with me
And tells me not to talk such rot
Telling me not to speak foolishly

A A
Ça me rend toute chose
Je l'ai tellement dans la peau
Qu'au moindre mot
Il m'ferait faire n'importe quoi
J'tuerais, ma foi
J'sens qu'il me rendrait infâme
Qui me retient
Je l'ai tellement dans la peau
Qu'j'en suis dingo
Que celle qui n'a pas aussi
Connu ceci

Mon homme, celui qu'il me faut
Je frissonne, je prends l'eau
C'est mon homme, mon abri, mon lit, mon héros
Il ne saurait pas comment briller
Ou comme un phare banal, oublié
Dans sa mer ordinaire
Ili brise les vagues sans voir
Ces milliers de lumières
Qu'il m'offre sans le vouloir
C'est mon homme, mon drapeau
Mon homme, celui qu'il me faut
Je frissonne, je prends l'eau
C'est mon homme, mon feu, mon repos
C'est mon homme, mon ami
Qui pardonne, celui qu'on choisit
Je tâtonne comme je faillis
C'est mon homme qui fait ce qu'il dit
C'est mon homme, je l'admire
Mon ozone, l'air que je respire
Mon opium, mon jour
Oh mon homme, mon toit, mon chemin,
Mon amour
Meu Homem
Eu me arrepio, tomo agua
Eu me arrepio, tomo agua
Essa é meu homem, meu fogo, meu repouso,
Esse é meu homem, meu amigo
Que perdoa, aquele que escolhi
Quando hesito, quando eu falho
Esse é meu homem que faz o que ele diz
Esse é meu homem, eu o admiro
Meu ozônio, o ar que eu respiro
Meu ópio, meu dia
Meu homem, meu teto, meu caminho... meu amor.
