The Misfits were known for their sing-along "Whoa-oh-oh" choruses after the 1982 "Walk Among Us" LP -- and although Naked Raygun are often cited as having been influenced by The Misfits in this regard, the reverse is the case.
Haggerty and Kezdy would later join with Larry Damore of the Bhopal Stiffs to form Pegboy. Pezzati fronted The Bomb. A reunion in the late 90s produced the live album Free Shit!. The band reunited for Riot Fest 2006 on November 5, 2006 in Chicago, Illinois, and is playing a west coast tour in December, 2007.

Vanilla Blue
Naked Raygun Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
my boots feel empty
I see the world around me
through the corners of my eyes
White girls lied to me
no great surprise at all
when I think of what you mean to me
I shake and then I fall
You're not one of them
you're pure
you're something special
yeah that's for sure
You are my electric
got a black jag for you
that's why I call you
my sweet vanilla blue
The first verse of Naked Raygun's song "Vanilla Blue" describes a feeling of loneliness and disconnect from the world. This is emphasized by the image of icicles on the singer's spine, representing a feeling of being frozen or numb. The singer also mentions feeling empty, suggesting a lack of purpose or direction. They observe the world around them through the corners of their eyes, perhaps indicating a sense of mistrust or wariness towards others. The second half of the verse is a reflection on a past relationship that ended badly. The singer is not surprised that the white girl in question lied to them, suggesting a lack of trust towards women after being hurt before. The final line suggests that these memories are overwhelming, causing the singer to lose control of their emotions.
The chorus is a sharp contrast to the first verse, as the singer addresses someone they hold in high regard. They describe this person as pure and special, and compare them to electricity for the way they seem to energize and excite them. The singer refers to a black jag, which could be interpreted as a Jaguar car, suggesting that this person is luxurious and exciting. They call this person their "sweet vanilla blue", which could be a reference to the color of the skies on a clear day, or to the idea of something pure and simple.
Overall, "Vanilla Blue" seems to be a song about contrasts - loneliness and connection, mistrust and admiration, emptiness and excitement. The singer seems to be struggling with their emotions, but finds solace in the company of someone special.
