Norah Jones Lyrics

In all this confusion of mine
Though you and I both know
It's only the warm glow of wine
That's got you to feeling this way,
But I don't care,
I want you to stay
And hold me and tell me
Children are dancin',
The gamblers are chancin' their all
The window's accusing
The door of abusing the wall
But who cares
What the night watchmen say
The stage has been set for the play
Hold me and tell me
You'll be here to love me today
The moon's come and gone
But a few stars hang on on to the sky
The wind's runnin' free
But it ain't up to me ask why
The poets are demanding their pay
They've left me with nothin' to say
'cept hold me and tell me
You'll be here to love me today
Just hold me and tell me that
You'll be here to love me today
The lyrics of "Be Here to Love Me" by Norah Jones depict a sense of confusion and uncertainty in a relationship. The singer is aware that the other person's feelings have been influenced by wine, but they still want them to stay and hold them. The confusion is represented by the description of children dancing, gamblers taking chances, and accusations from inanimate objects like windows and doors. The singer disregards outside opinions and longs for the validation and reassurance from their loved one.
In the second verse, the mood shifts to a more contemplative state. The moon has gone, but stars still shine, and the wind runs free with no explanation. The poets who usually have so much to say are left with silence. The final line of the song repeats the plea to hold the singer and tell them that they will still be there to love them today.
The lyrics suggest a conflicted and uncertain relationship where the singer is overwhelmed by the chaos around them, but they still long for validation and affection. The repetition of "hold me and tell me" emphasizes the need for touch and words of reassurance. The song's melancholic tone is enhanced by Norah Jones's slow and soothing melody, creating a somber and contemplative ambiance.

on The Nearness of You
The Nearness Of You - Camille Thurman -Lyrics
Its not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams do come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you
Saxophone Musical Interlude
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness, the nearness of you
