1) Oceano is an American deathcore band from Chicago, IL, formed in 2006. The band signed to Earache Records and released their debut album, Depths on April 7, 2009. Their second album, Contagion was released on November 9, 2010.
In 2012, a rumor passed that Oceano would be breaking up, but it was confirmed that the band is staying together and will be releasing a third full-length album in 2013.
Upon its formation in 2006, the band then featured 6 members and performed at local venues in the Chicago area. Their most prominent song then was "Candyman".
Carrol gathered Chicago guitarist Andrew Mikhail, vocalist Adam Warren, drummer Michael Southcomb and bassist Kevin Hare to form Oceano's first full line-up in 2007. After a year, Southcomb and Hare parted ways with the band. They were soon replaced by drummer Daniel Terchin and bassist Jason Jones. Oceano signed to Earache Records in 2008 after gaining a notable local following. Oceano recorded their full debut album Depths in late 2008, releasing it worldwide on April 20, 2009.
Jeremy Carrol was fired from the band in January 2009 due to personality conflicts between members. On February 3, 2010 their lead guitarist, Andrew Mikhail, departed from the band.
Oceano was a part of the 2011 Summer Slaughter Tour in North America alongside co-headliners Whitechapel and The Black Dahlia Murder.
In January of 2012, a rumor spread that the band was disestablishing, which was confirmed as false by Earache. Instead, an announcement was made that the band is actually going on a short hiatus after their performance at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival due to vocalist, Adam Warren, becoming a father. After some time spent away from the band, however, Oceano decided not to disband, and to continue touring. They also revealed that they had begun writing their next album, due by early 2013.

Taken to some place sacred,
Bound by the neck, near strangulation,
A dark undisclosed location.
Before you lie instruments of destruction,
A repertoire of punishment.
Smothered in entrails of past infliction
Each tool accustomed to mutilating flesh.
Leave you in a panic for air.
Jaw dislocated, it's painful to speak.
Your body frail and weakening.
Barely standing,
A result of repeated battery at my hands!
I am the artist of this morbid masterpiece.
These tools of beautry and you as my canvas,
You are my canvas!
The masochistic acts soon executed, however cruel,
Are intricate, the blood splatter that of artistry.
Prepair yourself.
Embrace only agony.
Take one look at me
Anticipate your suffering!
Keep your eyes on me.
First the frame is deconstructed,
Blunt force snaps through bone,
Each limb dislocated
And left dangling limp,
You've collapsed upon your own leges.
The suffering has not reached it's peak,
It only intensifies as I commence severing appendages.
The suffering has not reached it's peak!
Removing every limb,
Slowly succumb to death.
My face sprayed in crimson mist
From exposed arteries.
Before you fade away
Witness the walls change from white to red.
The final liters of life
Pulse through your veins.
You've been abandoned,
Left to bleed out.
Now die alone!
The lyrics to Oceano's song Severed Appendages depict a horrifying and violent scenario of torture and mutilation. The subject of the song is a victim who has been taken to a hidden and unknown location and bound by the neck, unable to escape. They are surrounded by tools and instruments of destruction which have been used to inflict pain and suffering upon them repeatedly. The singer takes on the role of the torturer and artist, claiming the victim as their canvas upon which they will create a "morbid masterpiece". The pain and agony inflicted is described in graphic detail, leaving the victim weak and barely standing. The torture only intensifies, culminating in the severing of the victim's limbs and a grisly ending where they are left to bleed out and die alone.
The lyrics are meant to shock and horrify the listener, bringing them into the twisted and sadistic world the singer has created. They serve as a commentary on the darker aspects of human nature, exploring themes of power, control, and brutality. The song challenges the listener to confront the reality of violence in all its forms, even the most disturbing and gruesome.
