Sattın Kendini
Padme Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sana söylenecek bir ton laf var
Zamanı gelince anlayacaksın
Geçiyor saniyeler görünüyor ufuklar
Bir sonraki gelişimizde çok şaşıracaksın
Çok yücelttin kendini, yaktın merdivenleri
Düşüşün de kaçınılmaz var bir sertliği
Sattın ticareti, ama^ biziz sanki
Semadan çok küçük görünür yerdeki

Üzerimize yürüsen ne olur
Bir koşsanız
Bombalar elinde uyuyadur
Biz hep ayaktayız

Kendin yaktın kendini sattın
Sattın kendini
Arka odalarda kimliksiz kaldın
Ruhunu kurutup kağıtlara sardın
Sattın nefesini
Kaldırımlar yerinde kalır sandın

Sula sokakları
Yetiştir kobayları
Daireler oyun alanı
Bir gün biter senin şarkı

Kendini yaktın kendini sattın
Sattın kendini
Arka odalarda kimliksiz kaldın
Ruhunu unutup kağıtlara sardın
Sattın nefesini
Kaldırımlar yerinde kalır sandın

Kendin yaktın kendini sattın
Sattın kendini
Arka odalarda kimliksiz kaldın
Ruhunu kurutup kağıtlara sardın

Sattın nefesini
Kaldırımlar yerinde kalır sandın

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Padme's song "Sattın Kendini" deal with the themes of self-destruction and selling oneself out. Padme starts out by saying that there are a ton of things that she could say to the person she's singing to, but that they will understand when the time comes. She points out that seconds are passing, while horizons are visible - meaning that time is moving forward while things appear unchanged. She warns the listener that they've elevated themselves too highly and have burned the bridges behind them. While a fall is inevitable, Padme suggests that it will come along with a harsh lesson. She states that they've sold out, but that in some way, they still believe that they're in control.

The next part of the song is more confrontational, as Padme tells the subject of the song that even if they come after her, it won't matter, and even if they run, bombs at their fingertips will still find them. Still, Padme riffs on the chorus line, emphasizing that they've destroyed themselves and sold out for what they thought was success. They've lost their identity in back rooms, and their spirit has turned to dry paper. They've sold their breath away, believing that sidewalks will stay in place.

As the song comes to a close, Padme seems to urge the subject that instead of choosing self-destruction and selling out, they should choose to water the streets and nurture guinea pigs. She reminds them that the game they are playing inside their apartments will eventually end, and that their song will fade away.
