What You Are
Paloalto Lyrics

Hold
You can look as though you never should fall
Crumpled up
Lost
You can push yourself right out of this
World
Is this what you are
Better than you show
You're the perfect one
That's how you are
Is this what you feel
Better
Is this what you are
Is this what you are
Pick yourself up
Punched and drunk it's better than you can show
Cracked yourself up
It's enough you should talk
This is where you came from
Is this what you are
Better than you show
You're the perfect one
That's how you are
Is this what you feel
Better
Is this what you are
Is this what you are
And it's taking what you've done
In your mind
There's time
And it's taking what you've done
In your mind
There's time
Is this what you are
Better than you show
You're the perfect one
That's how you are
Is this what you feel
Better Better
Is this what you are
Is this what you are
Is this what you feel
The song "What You Are" by Paloalto explores themes of self-perception, self-esteem and self-worth. The lyrics suggest that individuals may be more than they appear to be, or more than they believe themselves to be, and that they should recognize and appreciate their abilities, strengths and good qualities. The opening lines, "Praise yourself, Hold / You can look as though you never should fall" encourage the listener to acknowledge their worth and to hold themselves in high regard.
The chorus of the song repeats the question "Is this what you are?" which can be interpreted as an invitation to consider one's identity, character and potential. The lyrics seem to suggest that individuals may be underestimating themselves, or hiding their true selves, and that they should be more confident and authentic. The lines "You're the perfect one / That's how you are" can be seen as a reminder that no one is flawless, and that imperfections and vulnerabilities do not diminish one's worth or value.
The verses of the song depict moments of struggle and hardship, such as feeling lost, crumpled up or punched and drunk. However, they also emphasize the importance of resilience, self-reliance and perseverance. The lines "You can push yourself right out of this / World" and "Pick yourself up / Punched and drunk it's better than you can show" encourage the listener to overcome obstacles and to keep going, even when things seem tough. The repeated phrase "In your mind / There's time" suggests that individuals should take their time to reflect, grow and improve, and that they should not rush or give up on themselves.
Overall, "What You Are" is a powerful and introspective song that encourages self-acceptance, self-love and self-empowerment. Its message resonates with anyone who has ever struggled with self-doubt, insecurity or anxiety, and it reminds us that we are more than what we seem, and that we have the potential to achieve greatness.
