Ain't Misbehavin'
Peter Cincotti Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All by myself
No one to walk with
But I'm happy on the shelf
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm savin' my love for you
I know for certain
I'm through with flirtin'
It's just you I'm thinkin' of
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm savin' my love for you
Like Jack Horner
In the corner
Don't go nowhere
What do I care?
Your kisses are worth waitin' for
Believe me
I don't stay out late
Don't care to go
I'm home about eight
Just me and my radio
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm savin' my love for you
Like Jack Horner
In the corner
Don't go nowhere
What do I care?
Your kisses are worth waitin' for
Believe me
I don't stay out late
Don't care to go
I'm home about eight
Just me and my radio
Ain't misbehavin'
I'm savin' my love for you
In this song, Peter Cincotti portrays himself as content with being alone, but still saving his love for someone special. He enjoys his own company and doesn't feel the need to go out and be social like most people do. He compares himself to Jack Horner, who was a character in a nursery rhyme who sat in the corner, but Cincotti doesn't care because he knows that he is saving his love for someone who is worth waiting for. His focus is solely on this one person he loves and he no longer flirts with anyone else because his heart belongs to them.
Cincotti's lyrics are powerful in that they portray someone who is entirely devoted to one person, no matter the circumstance. He knows who he wants and even though he may be alone, he doesn't feel lonely because he knows that he is waiting for someone who is worth it. The line "Your kisses are worth waitin' for, believe me" exemplifies just how much he values this person, even if he hasn't found them yet.
Overall, this song is a beautiful tribute to devotion, patience, and holding out for someone who is truly special. It reminds us that sometimes it's better to wait for the right person than to settle for anyone who comes along.
