You'll never guess who?
The lovable, hugable Emily Brown
She's Miss Brown to you
What if the rain comes pattering down?
My heaven is blue
Tennessee sending me Emily Brown
I know
I know her eyes will thrill ya
But go slow
Don't you all get too familiar
Why do you think she's comin' to town?
You just wait and you'll see
The lovable, hugable little Miss Brown
She is baby to me
I know
I know her eyes will thrill ya
But go slow, just take it slow
Don't you all get too familiar
Why do you think she's comin' to town?
Just wait and you'll see
The lovable, hugable little Miss Brown
She is baby to me
She is baby to me
Yeah, she is baby to me
The song "Miss Brown" by Peter Cincotti is a playful and upbeat tune about a woman who is making her way into town. The singer asks the listener, "Who do you think is comin' to town?" suggesting that this woman is of particular note, though her identity is not revealed. However, the singer does reveal her name, Emily Brown, and makes it clear that she is called "Miss Brown" by those who know her. The singer seems to be excited about Emily's arrival, remarking that "Tennessee is sending me Emily Brown."
The lyrics reveal a bit of flirtation, as the singer warns against getting too familiar with Emily, saying "I know her eyes will thrill ya / But go slow / Don't you all get too familiar." The final lines reveal the depth of the singer's feelings for Emily - he calls her "baby" and says that she is "baby to me." The song seems to be an ode to a woman who has captured the singer's heart and is about to turn his world upside down.
