Lilith
Plaid [feat. Björk] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You can have me
But I'll defend my child
By spring that child will die

Oh deli owowow
Woo

Moon, moon, moon

I'm just so warm, Jennifer
and I'm coming over
to sabotage our distance

Moon will leave me on
Moon will guide me through, baby
Moon will guide me through
Moon will turn me on

I just don't care anymore
'Cause my chord is calling
It's me and truth
It's home
I'm at home with truth alone

Moon will leave me on
Moon will guide us through
Moon will guide us through, baby
Moon will turn me on

The moon
It guides me on baby
There's absolutely no doubt

Me and truth

It's home
I'm at home with truth alone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Plaid's song "Lilith" featuring Björk are open to interpretation, as they delve into abstract imagery and emotions. The song seems to explore themes of love, protection, and self-discovery.

The first few lines emphasize the singer's willingness to give themselves up for someone else, stating, "You can have me, but I'll defend my child." This line suggests a strong sense of loyalty and protection towards their loved ones. However, in the following line, the singer hints at the inevitable passing of time by saying, "By spring that child will die." This could be a metaphorical representation of the fleeting nature of relationships and the transient nature of life itself.

As the song progresses, the focus shifts to the moon, which is repeatedly mentioned. The moon could symbolize guidance and illumination, serving as a source of direction and inspiration. The singer expresses a desire for the moon to guide them through life's journey, stating, "Moon will guide me through." This could indicate a search for truth or finding solace in the unknown.

Towards the end of the song, the singer reaches a state of contentment and acceptance. They declare, "I'm at home with truth alone." This suggests a sense of finding inner peace and embracing authenticity, detached from the external world.

In summary, "Lilith" by Plaid featuring Björk explores themes of love, protection, and self-discovery through abstract metaphors and imagery. The song evokes a sense of longing for guidance and finding solace in the truth within oneself.

This song was released in 1997? Way too early for it's day.
It sounds even more time appropriate now.

And my addiction grows stronger to Bjork!

@BjorksMusic

Bjork is one of the most original, talented and humble artist of our time. She possesses a soprano vocal range. Her vocal range covers three octaves, going from F3 to E6. Classical composer John Tavener has praised Björk as being "more intelligent than most opera singers",music critic Alex Ross has cited Björk as one of the most gifted voices nowadays. The National Public Radio counted Björk among its list of "50 Great Voices" and MTV included her on its countdown "22 Greatest Voices in Music".

Bjork is a child making your ego small...

@aBanabis

Bjork is awesome. She always got the top producers backing her these days too, right? and even if she didn't, there are countless remixes. I feel like there's a lot of story behind her emotions in her songs. and normally, most of the time, I can't truly appreciate it. idk, maybe it's because she's foreign? I don't think that's it though, cuz I'm a huge fan of Emiliana Torrini and it's not the same even though she's Icelandic as well. I think to truly appreciate it, I'd just have to be in the mood...and it's rare for me to be in the perfect mood for certain music. Personally, I think that's great though. I think artists/musicians lose out on a lot of their inspiration if they try too hard to please their audience and only produce art/music they THINK their audience will appreciate. There are a few songs here and there that I don't really have to be in the mood to truly enjoy...like Hunter, Bachelorette, and maybe a few other favorite idk. but yeah most of the time, I can only handle so much of her music. have to be in the mood.
